*** SHADOW ***

Shadow is 3 yrs of age and understand he has been Life Chained.

He has the most lovely nature, compliant and willing to learn.
Shadow is currently living in an outside of Auckland Pound and now truely deserves to be given a chance at living his best life.

If anyone in Auckland is able to help Shadow ie foster or trial to adopt
please PM or contact on [email protected]

And please share Shadow's post as much as on dog/community pages in order he can have a chance.

A well qualified behaviourist backup is available in Auckland for him (ie... he will be good with other dogs with a good experienced introduction to start).

*** BLUEY UPDATE ***

An out of the blue update due to a disturbing situation.

Bluey (relinquished from her Life Chain to CDANZ) is thankfully doing so well in her trial to adopt home.

Bluey's adoption process cannot be completed due to an acquaintance of her new mum offering to help out by taking Bluey into her already booked microchip insertion appointment.
Bluey became stressed, anxious, flighty at this appointment and the chip was unable to be inserted.
So this person took Bluey to another vet unknown, the chip was inserted and Bluey returned to her trial to adopt home.
They then immediately registered Bluey with council in their name.

They now state Bluey is their dog and are going to extraordinary lengths to have Bluey removed from his approved trial to adopt home ie police report, involving public media, and a legal firm.

All relinquished dogs through CDANZ Trust are registered to CDANZ and a change of ownership is done following a successful trial to adopt period.

It would seem this person wanted a dog but was not prepared to go through the standard processes welfare groups and entities follow, hence registering Bluey in their name.

What this person has done is so wrong and is actually fraudulent.
This is wasting valuable time to help further Life Chained.

***❤️ BUCK UPDATE ❤️***

Buck is truely living his dream life with his lovely owner in his best ever forever home.
"The best food, cuddles, he loves his walks and his warm comfy inside bed".
"He is a big goof ball and his smile and attitude to life is truely admirable".
He surely is the love of his owners life.

( Buck had been Life Chained as a young puppy and relinquished in 2024 at 5yrs of age. He suffered fly strike each summer on his life chain).
In Buck's street in Sth Auckland there were a no.of life chained dogs there and many more are suffering there now in 2026.

It is shocking to see these Life Chained dogs inhumane living circumstances in a supposed 1st world country whereby Life Chaining is now generational.
We can only trust with the Amended Regulations some improvement and change will be seen.

*** HENESSY AND PUP UPDATE ***

Henessy ( female 4 yrs old) and Pup ( male 2yrs old) are at an emergency foster home in central Auckland.
Much appreciation to the person who offered to have both dogs for 2 or 3 days as an emergency foster only - to prevent both being taken to the pound (their owner vacated the tncy and unable to take the dogs).

However Henessy and Pup are Still at the emergency property and would love to and fully deserve to experience living inside a home.

Both are quiet and compliant - very good with the groomer for their 1st nail trim and very good at the vet for their microchipping and 1st vacc.

If anyone in the Auckland area is able to foster or trial to adopt
Henessy or Pup in order they can finally start their journey to full recovery please PM or contact on [email protected]

And please share their post as much as on dog and community pages in order they can be moved asap to live inside finally.

*** HENESSY AND PUP UPDATE ***

Henessy and Pup are Finally off their Life Chains and are both in an emergency foster care home in central Auckland.

Huge appreciation to this home for helping both dogs as the dog's property is being vacated on the 25th April and there was simply nowhere for them to go.

Henessy and Pup were so well behaved and quiet, when off their chains for their 1st time (1st time in a vehicle) and at Animates for their 1st ever bath. Both showed no interest in other dogs there as so quietly pleased to be with the humans helping them.

If anyone can offer Henessy or Pup a trial to adopt home preferably in the Auckland area please PM or contact [email protected]

Henessy is 4 yrs old - a quiet, appreciative willing to learn girl.
Henessy's son Pup is 2 yrs old and he is also adjusting well. Neither are 'energizer bunnies' by any means and both have slept well the last 2 nights - 1st time ever inside a home.

Please share Henessy's and Pup's post as much as on dog and community pages in order they can both finally find forever loving homes and live the life they truely deserve.

***❤️ KELPIE CROSS GIRL UPDATE ❤️***

This lovely natured dog was Life Chained as a young puppy 6 years ago but thankfully relinquished due to the dedicated person helping her over the last 3 years.

Ahmi is now in her forever lovely home.
She has a great younger canine mate who has welcomed her and he has helped too to assimilate into her new life ie napping on the couch, watching TV, 1st time at the beach....
As her new family say 'So many 1st's' and that she is so trusting, responsive and appreciative.

Much appreciation to Ahmi's lovely family for helpng her and providing for her the life she so deserves.

It is ongoing disappointing in that the Life Chained dog properties CDANZ are involved with - the owners have No idea the Regulations have been amended in regards life chaining of dogs from puppyhood to death. With over 250,000 Life Chained as Ahmi was, change will clearly be a slow process.

*** PRINCESS UPDATE ***

Princess is finally off her Life Chain and is now in foster care and has been renamed Poppy.

Much appreciation to this wonderful foster home for helping her.
Poppy would love her own forever home - and sharing of her post as much as on dog and community pages will help muchly for this to eventuate. Many thanks.

Poppy was quietly So happy to be free and was so well behaved in the vehicle and at Animates having her 1st ever wash (she did see other dogs but not interested as more interested in the humans helping her).

Poppy is actually just under 4 years of age ( we had been indicated 5 yrs). She is not an 'energizer bunny' by any means and has started to learn some commands in her foster home.

Henessy and Pup were both upset and confused at seeing her leave. There may now be foster homes for Henessy and Pup and they can be removed from their life chains shortly.

*** PRINCESS, HENESSY and PUP ***

These 3 dogs are Life Chained at the same property in Sth Auckland.

The property will be vacated this month on the 25th April and the dogs are not allowed at the new property.
(Their owner moved overseas and a relative was left with them).

All 3 dogs were gentle, quiet and respectful at this 1st visit. They just wanted 'pats' and human company.
Princess and Henessy are female siblings and are approximately 5 years old.
Pup (Henessy's son) is 2 1/2 years old.

Foster homes or trial to adopt homes are needed as nowhere for these dogs to go on the 25th April.
Preferably in the Auckland area whereby full support is available ie vet visits, food, behavioural support etc....

Please PM or contact on [email protected] if you are able to help.

And please share as much as on dog and community pages in order these dogs can have a chance at living a good life.

***❤️ KENJI UPDATE ❤️***

Kenji was Life Chained as a tiny puppy and thankfully relinquished when he was nearly 6 months old (along with 3 of his siblings Halo, Stash and Jim).
These pups were amongst the 2nd litter their mum had had on her Life Chain.

Kenji has now settled so well into his forever home.
He has a lovely canine mate who has helped assimilate him along with the family feline.
His owners love him to bits and he is a major part of the family.

Huge appreciation to Kenji's owners for all the driving etc... required and providing Kenji with such a loving caring home, helping him settle and learn into the life he truely deserves.

With over 250,000 Life Chained (and Life Contained) dogs in NZ today the Amended Regulations regarding the cruel inhumane practice of Life Chaining from puppyhood to death will take considerable time to show change.
Currently none of the Life Chain dog owners are aware that legally this is no longer an accepted practice.

***❤️ MAJOR UPDATE ❤️***

Major was Life Chained as a puppy and thankfully relinquished in January this year.
He is 8 years of age and had spent his 8 years Life Chained.

Major is now So appreciative of his wonderful caring forever home.
His extensive raw 'hot spot' areas resulting from chaining have healed well.
His owners say they 'love him to bits', he has such a wonderful placid
nature and is the best company. He loves the couch and is very much a wise old soul.
Much Appreciation to this wonderful home for providing Major his best life.

Mr Hoggard was emailed on 29th March regarding the progress on Life Containment of dogs, as we understood the Regulatory proposals in this area were to be presented in 2024.
Also pointed out in this email - there has been no public awareness/education from when the Chaining Regulations came in to force on 25th September 2025.
This was meant to be a 6 mnth education period of which we are now over 6 mnths on this and very few people know about this law change.
