Child Cancer Foundation

For the sixth year, our incredible friends at Jamie Kay have brought their community together to support tamariki and whānau facing childhood cancer. 💙

With the Love Always collection sold out in about 7 hours, and 100% of total sales revenue being donated to the Foundation, every purchase will be helping ensure families have care and support wrapped around them through some of the hardest days anyone could go through 🎗️

We’re incredibly grateful to Jamie Kay and everyone who supported this beautiful collection for another year. Together, you’re reminding families that they are always loved, always cared for and never alone 🫶

Meet Houston 🥊🏀📚

Houston was just three when unexplained bruising, leg pain and tiredness led his parents, Olivia and Dean, to take him to hospital. Within hours, he was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of leukaemia, just four days before his fourth birthday.

During treatment, Houston found comfort in collecting his Beads of Courage™, calling his Family Support Coordinator, Janine, “The Bead Lady” 📿 Each bead marked another step in his journey, such as treatment, a procedure or brave moment, showing just how far he had come.

Today, Houston is in remission and has nearly 800 beads celebrating his incredible courage. He loves reading, boxing and basketball ✨

One day, Olivia hopes Houston will display his beads and share his story in his own words. For now, they’re a colourful reminder of everything he has overcome. 💙

🏐💗 Look what they’ve done! 💗🏐

We’re incredibly thankful to the Tere Bissell Foundation for choosing Child Cancer Foundation as one of the recipients, and to everyone who helped make this day happen. Your generosity will help support children with cancer and their whānau across Aotearoa. 💙🌟

Hooray, our refreshed PDG programme has celebrated one year of inspiring tamariki who have faced childhood cancer!! 🥳

Each Personal Development Grant helps a child on treatment, off treatment, or their sibling try something new that really lights them up.

After a thoughtful review of the year that’s been, we’re so happy to see the refreshed programme reached 146 tamariki from all over Aotearoa.

Results also showed us that the programme is sustainable, with a little room to grow! So we’ve recently announced some extra eligibility changes to help even more PDGs get out there 🚀🎾🎨🔬🎸

Full details are on our website: childcancer.org.nz/pdg

To those who support us, thank you! It’s your generosity that helps make the Personal Development Programme available so tamariki can envision life beyond childhood cancer.

If you’d like to give, head on over to keep a good thing going: childcancer.org.nz/donate

Every little bit helps a dream come true!

LEGO might seem like a simple gift, but for a child in hospital, it can change their whole day. 🧱✨

It brings creativity, distraction and joy during long hospital stays, giving tamariki something fun to focus on. And, most importantly, it gives them a chance to simply be kids. 🌈

We’re incredibly grateful to AMI Motorhub for this donation, delivered to us via Team Up Events. We can’t wait to share it with the tamariki we support. We know it will bring plenty of smiles.

And it couldn't have come at a better time, as September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, raising awareness of the challenges, and courage, of tamariki living with cancer. 🎗️

Thank you, AMI Motorhub and Team Up Events NZ for your donation of joy!

🎉 Amazing news for rangatahi and young adults with cancer!

Child Cancer Foundation is thrilled to welcome the decision to extend Rule 8.1(b) of the Pharmaceutical Schedule to include adolescents and young adults with paediatric-origin cancers. 💫

Having already helped save the lives of many young Kiwis by giving clinicians access to vital cancer medicines that are not publicly funded, this rule can now help to do the same for many more. 🙌

Holly is one of those young Kiwis whose cancer journey was impacted by Rule 8.1(b). After being diagnosed with High-Risk B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, which was proving hard to treat, she was able to access an immune treatment new to paediatric use in Aotearoa.

Her condition improved drastically. She got her energy back. She was able to just be a kid again. ✨

By extending access, more rangatahi will have the opportunity to benefit from the treatments they need, when they need them most. 🌟

This is a huge step forward and incredibly exciting news for young people and families facing cancer. 🎉

🎗️ Childhood cancer changes everything.

It changes the way families experience the everyday moments we often take for granted. 🏫🧸

Missed school days, disrupted routines, long hospital stays and so much uncertainty about what’s coming next can change the way they see the world. The impact reaches far beyond treatment, affecting the whole whānau. 💙

Throughout September, we’ve been finding different ways to bring attention to childhood cancer, and help Aotearoa better understand the realities faced by tamariki with cancer and the people who love them. 🎗️✨

Wig Wednesday has been one of the ways we’ve come together, bringing schools, workplaces and communities across Aotearoa together to raise awareness and funds.

If you’d like to support the families navigating childhood cancer, you can donate online or 📱 text SEPT to 3457 to make a one-off $3 donation. 💙 Every contribution helps children with cancer and their whānau, when childhood cancer changes everything. 🌟

Today marks the beginning of our sixth annual fundraiser for Child Cancer Foundation NZ - and once again, we are incredibly grateful to have our beautiful Jamie Kay community standing beside us.

This collection was created for something much bigger than the pieces themselves. Across New Zealand, an average of three families each week are faced with a childhood cancer diagnosis. In a moment, their world changes. Child Cancer Foundation is there to walk alongside these families - offering practical and emotional support, care and connection throughout a journey no family should have to navigate alone.

This year, together, we are hoping to raise $100,000 to help make that support possible. ☁️ 100% of total sales revenue from every Love Always piece will be donated to Child Cancer Foundation NZ. ☁️

Love Always was created as a gentle reminder of what can carry us through the hardest seasons - love, kindness, community and knowing there are people beside you.

Always loved.
Always cared for.
Never walking this path alone. 🤍
