Pink Shirt Day Aotearoa

Pink Shirt Day Aotearoa Pink Shirt Day is on Friday 15 May 2026! 👚 Help create an Aotearoa where everyone is educated, equipped, and empowered to take on bullying.

Pink Shirt Day is celebrated in May each year and we're asking schools, workplace and individuals to speak up and stand together to stop bullying.
-----
Pink Shirt Day began in Canada, when two high school students decided to stand up for a friend who had been harassed for wearing a pink shirt to school. Pink Shirt Day was established in New Zealand in 2009, and grows stronger every year.

💗 We’re amazed by the effort, energy, and heart shown by everyone who helped make this year’s Pink Shirt Day so wonderful. Here are a few who deserve a special mention.

Local legend Derek von Strumer for his phenomenal effort running 170 kilometres in 24 hours around Auckland's Point Chevalier and raising over $12,000. 👟

Thank you also to Duncan Oswald and the Early Bird Run Crew in Auckland's Hobsonville for organising the colourful Neon Night Run and raising over $5,700.

And to everyone who attended and supported the PINC Stand Up Ball in Dunedin thanks for bringing glitz and glamour to the cause and raising over $47,000. 💃🕺

To everyone who helped fundraise for this kaupapa - thank you! ❤️

💗 Today is Pink Shirt Day, a day to stand together against bullying, celebrate kindness, and help create communities where everyone feels safe, valued and respected.

For Pink Shirt Day, we asked youth aged 13-17 as part of our Young Digital Leaders programme to share what cyberbullying means to them, in their own words.

As more of our lives happen online, creating safer digital spaces is something we all play a part in. Listening, supporting others, and speaking up can make a real difference.
