Since 2009, there are more than 50 Chinese films only placed in Auckland cinema chains and many others were from India, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan and other area also landed to Auckland through various events and festivals. Asian population, now it has two sides of demand, for New Zealanders, they want to know more about Asian and Asian culture, for Asians, they appreciate the opportunity of screening their own language pictures in local cinemas. Film distribution business does help and improve the culture understandings and entertainments in different ways; it also generates economic opportunities for the industries of truism, entertainment, hospitalities and digital movie technologies. New Zealand as the home of “The Hobbit” has gained its reputation once again and it also holds a strong position in global film production. So taking the advantage of New Zealand image, New Zealand Asia Trust is planning to run a big event ‘Asia Pacific Film Festival 2013 Auckland’ on Oct this year.
