Spark Community Space is a local charity, working to reach those who have been left out or left behind, to give people a place to belong, to be part of a community of support, to heal together and to spark back into life. We want to welcome anyone who feels that they have been pushed aside or overlooked by society, perhaps because of long term illness, or redundancy; perhaps because of lack of ski

lls, or qualifications; perhaps because of disability, or race; or whatever reason. Spark is a place to belong; a place of welcome and friendship; a place for healing and rebuilding; somewhere for people to rediscover their value and self worth and to spark themselves back into life. We plan to open a community shop where people can come and grow together, gaining skills through volunteering, accessing training in a supportive atmosphere and progressing towards regaining a sense of belonging in society.

We take donations!

We love receiving your donations and we couldn't be more grateful to every single person who has donated to us.

We process donations on Monday and Saturdays to make it more manageable for the team, if possible it would be amazing if donations could be dropped off on these days, but we understand this may not be possible for some.

At Spark Community Space, we are proud to support people from all different backgrounds and experiences. For some, volunteering is about giving back to the community. For others, it’s about building confidence, improving communication and English skills, meeting new people, gaining experience, or taking those first positive steps into a new routine.

Our volunteers bring kindness, support, laughter and so much heart into Spark every single day, and we truly couldn’t do what we do without them.

Sat at home looking for a reason to get out of the house?

Come to Spark! ✨

This week we have loads of different activities, as well as our kindness cafe to get involved with.

This Tuesday we have Crochet Corner, Dobble and Dominoes and we are going to try to sneak in a game of bingo as we missed it last week!

Wednesday we have Scrabble Club and Mindful Seated Movement with .with.alex.x!

And Thursday we have Rummikub Club and Origami in the craft corner!

If it's your first time, let one of the team know and we can help settle you in!

The Rowans Living Well Service hosts a supportive weekly drop-in session at Spark Community Space, offering guidance, advice, and emotional support from experienced nurses, complementary therapists, and trained volunteers.

Join us this Saturday at Spark if you want to celebrate Pride but find the Pride festival a bit overwhelming!

We will be having fun listening to music, doing some Pride colouring and enjoying cake and coffee, come and say hi! πŸ‘‹πŸΌ

We also have a stall at Pride where we will have face glitter available and Pride colouring. πŸ’ƒπŸΌ

At Spark we work hard to cultivate a space where everyone is welcome, all year round. We love you, and we want you to feel supported! πŸ«‚

We have a wonderful team of volunteers and today we want to introduce you to Penny, pictured with our awesome volunteer coordinator πŸ˜‡πŸ€£
Penny first came into Spark in Volunteers week 2024 to ask about volunteering and she has been with us ever sinceπŸ₯³πŸ₯³! Despite managing her own health issues, she is a regular valued part of our team. She loves that Spark has given her a boost in confidence and says we have given her smile and spark back 🀩πŸ₯°
Penny has been a regular volunteer in the past and definitely recommends volunteering as a way to gain confidence and meet new people - We love you Penny πŸ˜πŸ’–
