Open Mic Night at URBOND 🎶

Come along on Friday 5th June for our open mic night 🎤 If you sing or play an instrument, we want to hear it!

Singers, musicians, groups, choirs, song writers - all abilities welcome. Open to young people aged 12-25.

Our Knife Crime Awareness Event, led by Daisy as part of her Social Work Masters placement, brought young people together to raise awareness, encourage open conversations, and educate on the realities and impact of knife crime.

The event included lived experience stories, interactive workshops, and questionnaires designed to engage young people and create meaningful discussions around safety, choices, and support within our community.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the evening, including Motiv8, ACT Self Defence, Violence Reduction Unit, Portsmouth Mediation Service and Portsmouth University for supporting such an important conversation.

Today we had an inspiring meeting to discuss some important upcoming events and activities focused on creating positive opportunities and stronger communities.

Topics included:
- Knife crime awareness event
- Summer activities and programmes
- Work experience opportunities
- Youth awards and celebrations

We’re excited about the great plans already in place and look forward to working closely with our partners to ensure we deliver a fantastic, impactful, and successful year for young people in Portsmouth.

Together, we’re creating opportunities, building confidence, and empowering the next generation.

A huge thank you to the incredibly talented Katy McIntyre Brown for creating such a powerful and meaningful mural for the URBOND space!

Katy made it a priority to involve our Youth Ambassadors in the creative process, taking the time to listen to their ideas, experiences, and vision to ensure the artwork truly reflected URBOND and the young people who use the space every day.

The mural is a celebration of creativity, community, and youth voice.

We’d also like to thank Sue Elton, the High Sheriff of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, for sponsoring and supporting this special project as part of her lasting legacy.

A huge thank you to Hampshire Flag Company for your incredible work helping transform the URBOND space.

From the vibrant wall designs to the finishing touches throughout the building, their creativity, dedication, and hard work helped bring our vision to life and create a more inspiring environment for our young people and community.

It was great to see young people involved throughout the process, allowing them to contribute ideas, gain experience, and take pride in helping shape a space that truly belongs to them.

We’re so grateful for your support and partnership, the impact of your work will be felt by everyone who walks through our doors.

What an incredible evening at the Big Reveal @ URBOND!

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate the transformation of the URBOND space, from the amazing new wall art and mural created with our Youth Ambassadors, artist Katy McIntyre, and the Hampshire Flag Company , to the music, food, and community spirit throughout the night.
A special thank you to all of our partners, supporters, performers, volunteers, and everyone who helped make the evening such a success.

The Big Reveal @ URBOND

I have been attending URBOND for over four years, since I was 9 years old. My three brothers and I are regular attendees at the youth club and non term-time activities. Recently, I have also started benefiting from one to one music sessions, which I am enjoying very much.

URBOND has been great for us. We have made many good friends, we have been supported and it’s always nice to see that some of the friends I met at URBOND also go to the same school. It can sometimes be difficult to make friends at school, but it’s easier at URBOND because it is a relaxed environment where everyone is friendly. Those friendships often carry over into school as well.

Now that I am 14, I am looking forward to the summer holidays so I can do some work experience. I have already spoken with staff about this, and I can’t wait.
