This Remember A Charity Week, we're answering some of the most common questions about Gifts in Wills and Legacy giving.

One of the biggest misconceptions is that making a Will is something you can put off until later in life. In reality, people often make or update their Will following major life events such as buying a home, getting married, becoming a parent, retiring, or after the loss of a loved one.

A Will gives you the opportunity to look after the people and causes that matter most to you. While family and friends will always come first, many people also choose to leave a gift to a charity close to their heart.

To make the process as simple as possible, we're delighted to have partnered with Make A Will Online. Their straightforward online service allows you to create or update your Will from the comfort of your own home.

Find out more here:
https://www.makeawillonline.co.uk/elizabethfoundation

There is absolutely no obligation to leave a gift to The Elizabeth Foundation when using the service, but any future gift, no matter the size, could help deaf children and families for generations to come.

"My little granddaughter was able to come here due to another person, who we will obviously never ever meet, giving money in their Will to help The Elizabeth Foundation... and that's exactly what we are going to do."

This Remember A Charity Week, we're honoured to share Kevin's story.

When Kevin's granddaughter attended The Elizabeth Foundation, he saw first-hand the difference that early support can make to a deaf child and their family. He also recognised that many of the opportunities available to families today have only been possible because of the generosity of supporters who chose to leave a gift in their Will.

Now, Kevin and his family have decided to do the same, helping to ensure that future generations of deaf children can access the life-changing support they need. We're incredibly grateful to Kevin for sharing his story and for choosing to remember The Elizabeth Foundation in this special way.

We're also keen to learn more about what our supporters think about gifts in Wills. If you have a few minutes to spare, we'd be grateful if you could complete our short legacy survey- and, to say thank you to those completing it, you could be in with a chance of winning a Β£50 Amazon voucher: https://forms.gle/LhK8wpg5trmc6r7R8

We'd like to say a huge thank you to the staff and customers at Lucky Star Chinese Takeaway in Denmead.

For several years, they have had one of The Elizabeth Foundation's collection tins on their counter, and together they have raised an incredible Β£3,750. That's a remarkable amount generated from spare change and small donations, all helping to create life-changing opportunities for deaf children and their families.

We are so grateful for their continued support and generosity. Every penny really does make a difference.

If you run a shop, restaurant, cafΓ©, pub, salon, or other local business and would be interested in having one of our collection tins on your counter, we'd love to hear from you. Simply contact our Fundraising Team: [email protected].

Did you know that if you're a UK taxpayer, your donation to The Elizabeth Foundation could be worth 25% more at no extra cost to you?

Through Gift Aid, we can claim an additional 25p from HMRC for every Β£1 donated by eligible supporters. That means a Β£20 donation becomes Β£25, helping us provide even more support to deaf children and their families.

If you've supported The Elizabeth Foundation and are eligible for Gift Aid, it's worth checking that your Gift Aid declaration is up to date. This simple step can make a significant difference to the children and families we support.

Making the most of every donation is an important part of our commitment to good financial stewardship, ensuring that the generosity of our supporters has the greatest possible impact.

To find out more about Gift Aid, or to update your declaration, please get in touch with our Fundraising Team: [email protected].

A huge congratulations and thank you to our incredible Team TEF, who conquered the Nuts Challenge last Saturday!

They may be feeling a little battered, bruised and sore right now, but this fabulous bunch can be incredibly proud of themselves. Not only did they tackle one seriously tough challenge, but together they have raised a combined total of Β£2,896.50 (including GiftAid) and counting from this challenge alone!

And what does that incredible amount mean for deaf children and their families?
πŸ’š It could fund 2 families to complete a 28-week BSL course
πŸ’š 10 Specialist Education sessions for a deaf toddler
πŸ’š 8 intensive speech and language therapy sessions
πŸ’š 5 baby and parent sessions

Behind every pound raised is an opportunity for a deaf child to develop their listening, communication and language skills, while giving their family the specialist support they need.

So, to every member of Team TEF β€” THANK YOU! You’ve certainly earned a well-deserved rest!

And to everyone who sponsored, supported and cheered them on along the way, thank you for helping turn their muddy miles into life-changing support.

2026 has been a year of saying goodbye to some of our most beloved musical legends. In tribute to the late Bonnie Tyler, and to mark the recent solar eclipse, the Fundraising Team (and friends) have lovingly recreated her iconic hit Total Eclipse of the Heart, both musically and visually.

Although we don't need a reason to celebrate the life and music of the incredible Welsh songstress, we'd like you to take this as your sign to book your tickets for our next edition of Music Bingo Banter!

πŸ“… Friday 11th September
πŸ“ The Elizabeth Foundation (PO6 3LL)
πŸšͺ Doors open: 6:30pm
🎡 Game starts: 7:00pm

Hit songs replace numbers in this unique take on bingo, with plenty of opportunities to sing along and have fun. This edition's rounds are Movie Magic, Better Than the Original?, and Goodbye Summer, featuring favourites from across the decades.

Prizes are awarded for Line (Disco!) and House (Bingo Banter!) in each round, plus there will be spot prizes for those who really get into the spirit with their singing and dancing.

In addition to this, we'll be holding a raffle. Alongside our usual favourite prizes, we're delighted to offer a fantastic top prize of tickets to see The Drifters live in concert, kindly donated by Portsmouth Guildhall.

So what are you waiting for? Grab your friends, get your glad rags on, and get involved! Tickets are just Β£10 each (bring your own drinks and nut-free snacks).
