For the benefit of local vulnerable women (refugees, victims of domestic violence, r**e victims) who need help to rebuild their confidence and self-esteem through the medium of baking bread. Our mission statement:

local women, to relax, interact and talk with each other, develop connections, skills and confidence

Lots of smiles, music, dancing and generosity filled the room on Saturday night at our International Women’s Day fundraiser, and thanks to all of you we raised an amazing £1,392 for Loaves of Love.

A huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers who helped organise, bake, set up, run the cake stall, sell raffle tickets and keep the whole evening running smoothly. Your time, energy and kindness are what keep Loaves of Love going.

Thank you also to the talented performers who generously donated their time and skills to entertain us throughout the evening. You created such a lovely atmosphere. And a big shout-out to Didi, our brilliant sound engineer, who made sure everything sounded just right.

We are incredibly grateful to the local businesses and organisations who donated raffle prizes: Tesco Fratton, Kenwood, Pompey in the Community, Delaney's on Castle Road, Southsea Gallery and Olive Catering.

We’d also like to thank the many generous individuals who donated items for the raffle, and everyone who came along, bought tickets, cakes and bread, and supported the event.

We are so grateful for this amazing support. 💛

Lots of baking happening in the Loaves of Love kitchen today!

Our wonderful group spent the afternoon making fresh bread loaves, cupcakes and cakes ready for tomorrow evening’s International Women’s Day fundraiser. The room smelled incredible and there was plenty of laughter along the way too.

Everything you see here has been baked by participants and volunteers in our class and will be available to buy tomorrow evening. Every loaf and every slice helps support Loaves of Love and the work we do in the community.

If you’re coming along tomorrow, make sure you leave room for something sweet… or maybe take a loaf home as well!

Meet your compère for our Cabaret Night: the fabulous Paula Bartlett!

Paula is a long-standing member of Southsea Shakespeare Actors, bringing drama to life both on stage and behind the scenes. From leading roles to directing powerful, female-focused productions like the Va**na Monologues, Paula is passionate about telling women’s stories.

She has consistently championed theatre that raises awareness and funds for women’s causes. For International Women's Day 2024, she directed Blue Stockings, which was a moving reminder of the hard-fought battle for women's education.

We’re absolutely delighted to have Paula hosting our cabaret evening for the second year in a row 🎭✨

Join us for a spectacular Cabaret Night fundraiser in support of Loaves of Love on 7 March!

Hailing from El Salvador, a small yet vibrant country in Central America, the Salvadoran Dancers bring joy, energy, and culture to every performance. Their signature style is rooted in the lively rhythms of cumbia, enriched by the dynamic sounds of drums and
trumpets.

Formed in 2023 as an initiative for Refugee Week, the group is dedicated to sharing the rich traditions, colours, and music of El Salvador. Now performing in Portsmouth, UK, they are proud to showcase the diversity and spirit of their homeland through dance.

Doors open at 7:15pm, with the show starting at 7:45 pm.

As part of our Loaves of Love fundraiser, we’re delighted to be joined by Janet Ayers, a community artist based in Portsmouth, who brings people together through music, creativity and connection.

Janet runs Southsea Community Choir and works extensively in the field of ther**eutic singing. She also leads music groups for adult beginners and improvers, folk dance classes, and creative art workshops — making her work deeply rooted in wellbeing, inclusion and community spirit.
