The role of a parish church and music within it doesn’t stop for the August holidays: on Friday we joined forces with singers from The Ascension and Holy Spirit for our Patronal Festival for the feast of the Assumption, with choir singing music by Leighton and Madden.

Then, on Saturday we welcomed the music department of Chester Cathedral to see the recently restored Organ, getting an idea of the sound and to see the work done by Nicholson’s with thier restoration, and a wonderful opportunity to hear the organ put through its paces by talented organists as they work forwards restoring their own instrument.

Sunday saw us celebrating with our annual “outside” service (which should be outside this year - often the weather prevents!) with support from Brass players (and a fun moment when the digital piano decided not to work… thankfully another was at hand!) Another varied way of music being made in and around our church. All part of a busy and vibrant parish: credit to our many musicians and singers who allow us to keep this work going during the summer.
