As schools and colleges welcome students back, it's a great time to start important conversations about risk, choices and staying safe.

We've created a resource to help facilitate those conversations.

Young Buck is a powerful short film and learning resource that explores the realities of County Lines exploitation through the story of a 15-year-old boy drawn into drug running.

It helps young people understand the risks, recognise warning signs and explore the importance of making safer choices.

You can watch the trailer on YouTube to find out more about the film and how it could support conversations with young people.

The full resource includes the film, lesson plans, monologues and supporting materials, with access available for a full year once rented.

A lovely afternoon celebrating volunteers in Portsmouth!

Pat, our Chair of Trustees, and Jenny, one of our Trustees, were delighted to attend the Lord Mayor’s Volunteers Garden Party recently, hosted by Cllr Abdul Kadir, Lord Mayor of Portsmouth.

Now in its second year, the garden party is a wonderful opportunity to recognise the incredible contribution volunteers make across our city. And what better way to celebrate than with sunshine, tea, cake and some fantastic live music! ☀️🧁🎶

At Rebound, we know just how much volunteers give - their time, compassion, experience and, sometimes, simply a listening ear. We’re incredibly grateful for everyone who gives their time to support others and strengthen our community.

Thank you to the Lord Mayor and everyone involved in organising such a lovely event. It was a privilege to be part of it.

CHANGE OF DATE: Due to Pompey playing at home on 1st September, the date of our next meeting has changed to 15th September

If you’re dreading the Bank Holiday, we get it.

For some people, a long weekend means more free time, more opportunities to drink, and more worry about what might happen next. It can feel like there’s nowhere to escape to, and no one who really understands.

But you don’t have to face it alone.

Our next face-to-face Rebound meeting is coming up, and there will be a friendly, supportive group waiting for you.

📅 Tuesday 15th September
🕖 7pm
📍 Portsmouth Carers Centre

Come along, have a cuppa, talk if you want to or simply sit and be with people who understand.

You deserve support too. And we’re here for you.

We look forward to seeing you.

"If I can just find the right words..."

"If I can just make them see..."

"If I can just keep helping..."

If you've ever caught yourself thinking like this, you're not alone. When someone you love is struggling with addiction, it's only natural to want to fix it.

But that's an enormous weight to carry.

The reality is that you didn't cause their addiction, and you can't make them recover before they're ready. That doesn't mean you stop caring. It simply means you don't have to carry responsibility for something that's outside your control.

If you're struggling with this, we've created a resource called 'How to Help an Addict Who Doesn't Want Help'.
https://reboundgroup.org/resources/

We hope it gives you some reassurance and practical guidance.

One of the hardest parts of living with an addict is how lonely it can feel.

Many families keep everything behind closed doors. They make excuses, cover things up or avoid talking about what's really happening because they're worried about being judged.

Sadly, there's still a stigma around addiction.

But none of this is your fault, and you don't have to go through it on your own.

When you talk to Rebound, you'll be speaking to people who understand. No judgement. No criticism. Just support from people who've walked a similar path.

You don't have to carry this by yourself anymore.

What does 'rock bottom' actually mean?

People often say, "They need to hit rock bottom." But the truth is, nobody really knows what that looks like.

For one person it might be losing their home.
For someone else it could be prison.
For another, it may take a life-threatening situation before they're ready to accept help.

Every person's addiction is different.

As carers, it's natural to hope that something will finally make your loved one change. But there isn't one moment that's the same for everyone.

While you're waiting and hoping, don't forget about yourself. You deserve support too.

When it feels like you have no choice...

Looking after someone with an addiction can feel relentless. You don't get to clock off. Even when you're at work, trying to sleep or spending time with family, it's often still there in the back of your mind.

It can feel like you have no choice but to keep going, and after a while that takes its toll.

Unless you've lived it yourself, it's hard to explain just how exhausting it can be.

If that's how you're feeling today, please know you're not alone.

At Rebound, we've been where you are. We understand the worry, the frustration and the emotional rollercoaster. And we're here to support you too.
