Millions of girls around the world continue to face barriers to education and the freedom to determine their own futures.

This International Day of the Girl Child, we recognise the urgent need to protect girls' rights, address gender inequalities and ensure every girl has the opportunity to learn and thrive.

Access to education, including STEM, is an important part of that commitment. When girls are supported in pursuing their interests and ambitions, they have greater freedom to shape their own futures.

SWE Europe stands with girls everywhere and celebrates their voices, leadership and potential to create change.

For Tutku Kilicaslan, attending SWE conferences became an important part of finding community and confidence as an engineering student.

Through WE Local and the WE Annual Conference, she met women from around the world who had faced some of the same challenges she had, reminding her that she wasn’t alone in her experience.

With WE26 coming to Boston, Massachusetts, this November, there’s another opportunity to make those connections and be part of the global SWE community!

Long before online member profiles and digital databases, keeping SWE’s membership records up to date meant managing stacks of index cards by hand.

As SWE grew, so did the challenge of keeping track of its members. Moving those records onto computers promised a better system, but the transition came with a few technological headaches of its own.

Take a look back at how SWE moved its membership records into the digital age in the Summer 2026 issue of SWE Magazine.

From the podcast archive: Pilot Katherine Moloney never expected aviation to become her career. Today, she’s the founder of Elevate(her) Aviation, working to help more women see a future for themselves in the industry.

Katherine shares how visibility can shape who considers a career in aviation and why creating an environment where women can stay and succeed matters just as much as getting them through the door. She also explores the parallels with women’s experiences in engineering.
