All four trustees made the trip to RAF Hendon, and from the moment we walked into the hall, it felt like stepping into the heart of what aviation can mean for people.

We watched scholars greet one another like old friends, swap stories of training flights, and speak with a pride that only comes from working hard for something you love. There was a quiet determination in the room - the kind you notice in the way someone stands a little taller when their name is called, or how their family leans forward when they talk about their achievements.

Seeing that effort up close was inspiring. Every scholar had pushed themselves, learned something new, and chosen to keep going even when it wasn’t easy. And behind them, always, was the steady support of - opening doors, building confidence, and creating opportunities that genuinely change lives.

We left Hendon reminded of why this community matters, and proud to stand alongside the people who make it possible.

On 19 July, the Mark Long Trust Trustees were honoured to attend the Wings Presentation Ceremony at the RAF Museum London.
This inspiring event celebrated scholars who have successfully completed their Flying Scholarships. We were incredibly proud to watch Mark Morris, our 2025 MLT Scholar who lives with cerebral palsy, receive his wings - a testament to his determination, skill and passion for aviation.
Mark’s achievement embodies everything the Trust stands for: opportunity, inclusion and the belief that disability should never limit ambition. We are excited to see where his aviation journey takes him next. ✈️👏

Eve, from the RAF Typhoon Display Team, is taking on an enormous challenge this October - cycling 800km in just 5 days from RAF Lossiemouth to RAF Coningsby - all in support of the Mark Long Trust.

She’s riding in honour of Mark’s legacy and to help us continue opening the skies to disadvantaged and disabled people through adaptive flying, flying experiences and scholarships.

This is a remarkable test of endurance, determination and heart. We’ll be cheering Eve on every step of the way.

If you’re able to support her fundraiser, every £ makes a real difference to the individuals who will benefit from the Trust’s work.

Mark Long Trust Chairman Mark “Suggs” Sugden, back from an inspiring day with 2348 Maghull Air Cadets, where squadrons from across Merseyside came together not just to compete — but to raise funds for the Mark Long Trust.
Your generosity today directly supports our mission to open up flying opportunities for disabled people.
Huge thank you to Jess for organising such a brilliant event and championing the Trust.
You’re all incredible.

Today, Maghull (2348) Air Cadet Squadron have been holding a charity rounders competition and have generously chosen the Mark Long Trust to support.

Suggs has spent the day there today, and has been chatting to Jess about the day. Jess has organised the whole event, which we all think is just incredible.
Thank you 🙏

🪽WHY WE’RE SUPPORTING THE MARK LONG TRUST🪽

At 2348 (Maghull) Squadron, aviation is at the heart of everything we do.

It teaches confidence, resilience, teamwork and ambition. For many of our cadets, their first flight is an experience they will never forget.

The Mark Long Trust exists to help disabled people enjoy those same life-changing opportunities through aviation.

That’s why Wings for Mark is about far more than raising money.

It’s about helping others discover the excitement, confidence and inspiration that flying can bring.

Every conversation we start, every signature on our commemorative banner and every pound we raise will help support the Trust’s mission of creating new opportunities through flight.

We are incredibly proud that this initiative has been conceived and led by one of our own cadets and supported by the entire Squadron community.

Together, we can help Mark’s passion for aviation continue to inspire others.

Last week, Trustees Beth and Suggs were invited to the RAF Club for the Summer Dinner of the Worshipful Company of Builders Merchants - a gathering filled with tradition, generosity and genuine connection. They were joined by Phill O’Dell, founder of fly2help and his wife Lizzie, strengthening partnerships that make a real difference.

The WCoBM have been supporting the Mark Long Trust, offering an annual donation that helps us create aviation opportunities for young people who might otherwise never get the chance. Their kindness and belief in our mission were felt throughout the evening.

A heartfelt thank you to the Worshipful Company of Builders' Merchants for their continued support.
