Welcoming newcomers, sharing nourishment, and growing community. 🌿💚
At our New Citizens’ Gateway Ecotherapy Allotment, refugee volunteers came together to harvest, prepare, and pack fresh food for fellow volunteers living in Home Office hotel accommodation. 🍇🍅
For many people seeking asylum, meeting basic nutritional needs is a constant struggle. Research shows that a lack of kitchen space, minimal financial support, and living in catered accommodation can leave people feeling disempowered and facing high levels of food insecurity—which directly impacts both physical and mental health.
Days like this are about restoring agency, connection, and wellbeing. From harvesting fresh tomatoes, chillies, and grapes to preparing nutritious meals side by side, our volunteers are creating a positive food environment where people can nourish one another, share skills, and build a genuine sense of home.
Everyone deserves access to fresh, dignified, and nutritious food. Huge thank you to everyone who put their time, care, and love into making this harvest happen! ✨
