New Citizens' Gateway

Formerly Barnet Refugee Service. We do this by working to reduce health inequalities, social exclusion and poverty that overwhelm this group of individuals.

New Citizens' Gateway is an independent registered charity working to improve the quality of life for refugees and asylum seekers. NCG is an independent registered charity working to improve the quality of life for refugees and asylum seekers who live, work or study within Barnet and surrounding London boroughs. We work in partnership with local agencies and the greater community to promote the physical, social and mental well-being of our clients.

Happy Refugee Week everyone!

We kicked off this week visiting a local school to talk about our Youth group for Young Refugees and Asylum Seekers.

This year's theme for Refugee Week is Courage, a powerful reminder of the resilience and strength that Refugees and Asylum Seekers bring to their communities.

We sang together How Are You by Levelz Up. Courage can be found in the simple acts of kindness, the courage to learn a new language and determination to rebuild lives after facing challenges.

The annual Barnet Civic Awards ceremony, held at Hendon Town Hall on 28th April, honoured individuals and organisations that make a significant impact through their voluntary work.

This year, awards were given in three categories: ‘Barnet Lifetime Achievement Civic Award’; ‘Barnet Award for Outstanding Service to the Community’ and ‘Barnet Young Citizen Outstanding Service to the Community’.

We’re absolutely delighted to share that our ESOL teachers have been honoured with the "Barnet Award for Outstanding Service to the Community." This recognition celebrates their incredible dedication to supporting refugees and asylum seekers, helping them learn English and build confidence as they integrate into their new communities.

A huge congratulations to our amazing ESOL Team – we couldn’t be prouder! 🎉
