Could your corporate team lend a helping hand? 🌱

We’re looking for corporate volunteers to join us at The Maypole Project for some hands-on volunteering! 💜

We currently have two opportunities for teams to get involved:

🌳🪴🌻 PROJECT GARDEN
Our garden has seen lots of overgrowth over the summer, and we’re planning to transform it into an additional sensory space alongside our sensory cabin.

We’re looking for teams to help us:
🌿 Cut back overgrown plants and bushes
🌱 Tackle weeds
🪴 Tidy and clear the space
🔎 Highlight areas needing further attention

We’ve applied for funding to get brand new decking to ensure the area is safe and accessible, and your help to spruce and tidy will get us one step closer to creating this fantastic space!

🫧🧴 SUPER SANITISERS
We’re also looking for teams to help with a quarterly deep clean of our therapy spaces.

We regularly clean our toys and resources, but a full sanitisation is a big job that needs lots of hands. It’s vital in helping us keep our therapy spaces safe for the children and young people we support, many of whom have lowered immunity.

📅 Book in now to volunteer with us!
Due to therapy sessions taking place at our office, we currently have limited flexibility on dates and are hoping to arrange volunteer days on
Wednesday afternoons.

We’ll provide the essentials to keep you going — tea, coffee and biscuits! ☕🍪 — and would love to show you around our spaces and introduce you to our team.

If either opportunity sounds like something your team would enjoy, we’d love to hear from you! 💜

📩 Get in touch to book a date or arrange a chat by emailing [email protected]

We’re over halfway through our summer outings at The Maypole Project, and we’re having such a brilliant time! 💜

So far, we’ve been sailing, visiting the ponies, exploring around Tilgate Park Zoo and climbing at Reach Climbing Centre.

Have a look at some of the photos and memories that have been made already! 📸

We still have two more fun-filled weeks of outings to look forward to, and we’re so excited to see what the rest of the summer brings! ☀️

We launched our summer campaign, highlighting our support of a "Lifeline for a Lifetime" at The Maypole Project at the start of July 💜

But what does a “lifeline for a lifetime” really mean?

As a team, we’ve been reflecting on what this means to us — and at its heart, it’s about being there for Maypole families at every step of their journey.

🌱 Supporting families as their needs change and evolve
🤝 Having the freedom to access support whenever it’s needed
🔄 Being able to dip in and out of support at different points in the journey
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Support that grows alongside families, and for all family members
🎈 A youth club that isn’t capped when a young person turns 18
🌉 Supporting young people and families through the transition into adulthood

Essentially, once a Maypole family, always a Maypole family.

Because a lifeline shouldn’t have an expiry date. It should be something you can reach for whenever you need it.

We'd love to hear from some of our supporters, what does a “lifeline for a lifetime” mean to you? 📣✨

🌟 Happy International Youth Day! 🌟

Today we’re celebrating young people — their voices, their individuality, their potential and everything that makes them who they are 💜

At The Maypole Project, we’re proud to support children and young people living with complex medical needs, alongside their families, helping them navigate challenging times and find connection, confidence, friendship and joy.

Our Youth Club is a special part of this support. It gives young people the opportunity to meet others, build friendships, try new things, have fun and, most importantly, have a space where they can simply be themselves 🌈

We love to champion every young voice — no matter their difference or disability. We believe every young person deserves to be heard, valued and given the opportunity to share their ideas, express themselves and have a say in the things that matter to them.

📸 Here are some photos from our Youth Club over the last year — capturing just some of the fun, friendship, creativity and brilliant moments we’ve shared together!

Today, we celebrate the incredible young people in our Maypole community and the voices, perspectives and experiences they bring ✨

If you'd like to find our more about our Youth Club, please contact us by emailing [email protected] or call us on 01689 851596 📧📞

"When people ask why I keep choosing to raise money for The Maypole Project, the answer is actually quite simple." 🫶

Alvaro first discovered The Maypole Project while volunteering at one of our Christmas collections. Having become a parent just six months earlier, learning about the support we provide to children with complex medical needs and their families really struck a chord with him.

As he continued volunteering and meeting the families we support, he realised he wanted to use his passion for endurance challenges to make a difference.

His latest challenge was nothing short of extraordinary – running 500 miles from Bristol to Madrid in just 10 days, while pulling a 30kg child's trailer attached to his waist. Battling mountain passes, two heatwaves and some of the toughest physical and mental moments he's ever faced, there was one thought that kept him going.

"The trailer began to take on a much deeper meaning. It became a reminder of the invisible weight that so many parents carry every single day when caring for a child with complex medical needs. They don't get to put that weight down. They keep going because they have to."

That thought gave every step a purpose far greater than simply reaching Madrid.

"If my challenges can help raise awareness, inspire someone else to take on their own challenge, or simply raise a little more money to support the incredible work of The Maypole Project, then every blister, every hill and every difficult mile has been worth it."

Thank you, Alvaro, for your incredible determination, compassion and unwavering support. Every mile you've run is helping us continue to support the children and families who need us most 💜

Friendship can make all the difference, especially during life's most difficult moments 💜✨

This International Friendship Day (30th July), we're celebrating the connections that help children and young people feel understood, supported, and less alone.

At The Maypole Project, we create safe spaces where friendships can grow through shared experiences. Our Youth Club encourages socialising, builds confidence, nurtures independence, and gives young people the opportunity to have fun together. Our Living with Pain peer support group brings together young people with similar experiences, creating a place where they can be themselves, feel heard, and know they are not alone.

You can also become a Maypole Friend today by making a regular donation. Whether you choose to give monthly, quarterly, or annually, your support helps us continue to be a , ensuring children, young people, and their families can access the support, friendships, and community they need.
