Do you know a London school that would love to green their grounds?

To celebrate our 80th anniversary, the London Children’s Flower Society has launched 80 Years of Growing Together — a pupil-led school greening and biodiversity programme.

We’re inviting schools across London to apply for a £500 grant to design and deliver their own wildlife-friendly greening project. Pupils lead the ideas, planning and presentation, building confidence, leadership and environmental responsibility along the way.

Please share this link with any schools you know who may wish to apply: https://www.londonchildrensflowersociety.org/80-years-of-growing-together-grant-application-form/

Want to help us reach even more schools? - We currently have funding to support 14 schools, but our ambition is to reach 80 schools — one for every year of our history. Every £500 raised supports one additional school.

In celebration of The London Children’s Flower Society’s 80th anniversary, we wanted to mark this milestone by looking firmly to the future.
We are launching 80 Years of Growing Together, a pupil-led school greening and biodiversity programme that will help children design and create wildlife-friendly green spaces in their own schools.
We currently have funding to support 14 schools, but our ambition is to reach 80 schools, one for every year of our history.
Every £500 raised supports one additional school, helping young people:
• Lead their own environmental projects
• Improve biodiversity and support pollinators
• Transform their school environments
• Build confidence, leadership and environmental responsibility
We’ve set up a Crowdfunder to help us reach this goal, and any support, donations, shares, or introductions would make a real difference.
Please support or share our campaign here: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/qr/jyVR3JXy?utm_campaign=sharemodal&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=shortlink

Celebrating Excellence at Our 2025 Awards Ceremony and 80 Years of Inspiring Young Gardeners

In November, we were honoured to host our 2025 Awards Ceremony in the magnificent Livery Hall at the Guildhall. Our sincere thanks go to the Chief Commoner, the Lady Mayor, and the Remembrancer’s Office for so generously allowing us to use this historic venue.

We were delighted to welcome 27 winning schools to celebrate the achievements of their talented young gardeners. Prizes and trophies were presented by our President, Alan Titchmarsh CBE, and the current Master of the Worshipful Company of Gardeners, Robert Howard, whose support made the occasion especially memorable.

Our winning schools were celebrated for their outstanding efforts in our gardening competitions throughout the year. Initiatives that help pupils develop practical gardening skills, teamwork, environmental awareness, and pride in nurturing something from seed to bloom. These hands-on experiences spark confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong connection to nature.

We were also thrilled to have so many of our volunteers, donors, and long-standing supporters with us. Their dedication and generosity are at the heart of our work, enabling us to reach more schools, expand our programmes, and inspire the next generation of gardeners.

A special moment of the afternoon was the presentation of our Volunteer of the Year Award to Penny Pocock in recognition of her many years of commitment, including countless school visits and judging on our behalf.

We extend a warm thank you to The Royal Parks for attending the event and bringing engaging gardening activities for the children to enjoy.

This year’s ceremony holds special significance as 2025 marks our 80th anniversary. Since 1945, the Society has proudly supported generations of young gardeners and we believe gardening is far more than a pastime, it is a powerful educational tool that teaches vital life skills, encourages sustainability, and fosters care for the natural world. We look forward to launching a series of exciting initiatives to strengthen our commitment to young gardeners.

Here’s to another 80 years of growing, learning, and inspiring.
