A big thank you to Howell Jones Solicitors for joining us and sharing their expertise at our recent information session for carers at the Living Well Centre.

It was great to see so many thoughtful questions and conversations around planning for the future. Having access to clear, practical information can make such a difference when navigating important decisions for ourselves and those we care for.

Last week, Hasnain and Ben from our Private Client team joined carers at an information session hosted by Age UK Sutton covering some of the key legal considerations for planning ahead. Topics included Wills, inheritance tax, Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) and Deputyship.

The session sparked plenty of discussion, with an engaged group asking thoughtful questions about protecting their loved ones, planning for the future and understanding the options available if someone loses mental capacity.

A big thank you to Age UK Sutton for inviting us along. It's always a pleasure to support and share practical legal guidance that can help people make informed decisions for the future.

Can you help make Silver Sunday special for older people in Sutton?💜

We’re getting ready for our Silver Sunday Celebration on Sunday 4th October at Robin Hood, Sutton, bringing local older people together for an afternoon of fun and good company.

We’re looking for raffle prize donations - gift vouchers, meals out, treatments, gifts, w**e or hamper items would all be very welcome.

The raffle will add to the fun on the day while helping us raise much-needed funds to help us continue supporting older people across Sutton.

Coffee Morning for Those Caring for People with Dementia

Are you caring for a loved one with dementia? Join us at the Living Well Centre this Thursday, 17th September at 10:00am for a friendly and supportive coffee morning.

We're delighted to welcome a solicitor from Howell Jones who will be offering advice on subjects including Lasting Power of Attorney and Inheritance Tax, with the opportunities to ask questions.

All carers are welcome.

We always want to celebrate our fantastic volunteers here at Age UK Sutton, so today we're sharing Sam's story.

Sam has volunteered in the Help at Home team at Age UK Sutton for over 10 years now, having started back in 2015. He joined the organisation in order to gain more practical experience in data entry for his CV, to help him in finding paid employment in this area. Sam’s role involves assisting with the management of Support Workers’ hours within the charity’s HR system, Charity Log.

Sam has found that volunteering with Age UK Sutton has been well-suited to his preferences, as he prefers not to speak to people on the phone and the role has been adapted to reflect this. He enjoys the weekly routine he has established here, in an environment which is not pressured and tailored to his needs.

Throughout his time with the organisation, Sam has continued volunteering through many changes in staff and fellow volunteers, and even through a change in office location! He says he has stayed so long because everybody is friendly, and it’s nice to see the people he has come to know well on a regular basis. He also finds the work both interesting and rewarding, and enjoys being part of an organisation doing good things in the community.

To anybody thinking of volunteering in the Age UK Sutton office, Sam assures them that the office environment is friendly - and emphasises the free tea, coffee and snacks on offer!
