APPLY NOW FOR THE ENDANGERED INSTRUMENT SCHOLARSHIP!

The SMT Endangered Instrument Scholarships start at the beginning of each Academic Year (subject to funding). The endangered instruments vary each year but include:

🎶 Trombone
🎶 French horn
🎶 Tuba / Euphonium / Baritone
🎶 Double Reed (Oboe or Bassoon)
🎶 Double Bass
🎶 Viola

Fully subsidised small group lessons at Wednesday, Thursday, or Saturday Music Academy.

These scholarships will provide pupils with the opportunity to start to learn an ensemble instrument that they may not otherwise have the chance to learn. The scholarships would especially suit piano or keyboard students looking to start a second instrument, allowing them to experience the social aspects of group music-making. Scholars are expected to take advantage of our free Theory and Aural classes and join an SMT ensemble after one or two terms.

Scholars would receive a two-year scholarship that includes:

🎻 Free instrument hire
🎻 Free small group lessons at Wednesday or Saturday Music Academy
🎻 Free SMT Ensemble membership, with the expectation of compulsory attendance and progression through the appropriate ensembles.

WHO CAN APPLY?
🎺 attend a state-funded school in the London Borough of Sutton
🎺 are in Key Stage 2 or 3.
🎺 are not currently learning an endangered instrument.

Congratulations to all students who took part in our recent Jazz Workshop in collaboration with 🎺🎻

We were so pleased to welcome vocalists and string players to this years workshop, alongside percussionists, pianists, brass and wind players!

Join us for our annual Key Stage 2 Festival! 🎶🎻

This celebratory concert features Key Stage 2 pupils from across the London Borough of Sutton who have taken part in Whole Class Ensemble Teaching with Sutton Music Trust throughout the year.

Students will showcase the musical skills they have been developing in lessons, performing on a wide range of instruments, including:

Ukulele
Violin and cello
Recorder
Trumpet and trombone

The concert will conclude with an uplifting massed choir finale, where all performers come together to sing Change Maker by Emily Barden 🎶

A joyful celebration of young musicians and their achievements – not to be missed!

We are excited that our fundraiser is fast approaching! Planned by the Sutton Music Trust Youth Forum, we will be taking on a 6km walk from one of our Music Academy sites to the other to raise money for future residential trips and SMT's 55th Anniversary year of celebrations!
