Happy New Year!

We went offline for 9 months, taking time and space to think, reflect, laugh, and plan how best to keep serving young people. They spoke, we listened. We tested, experimented and listened again. Grateful, always.

We’re back, deliberately, consciously, and with purpose, to share The Next Five: our goals leading to our 50th anniversary in 2031:

A New Chapter for The Change Foundation

A heartfelt thank you to our founder, Andy Sellins, as he steps down as CEO. Andy, your passion and dedication have transformed the lives of countless young people around the world. We are forever grateful.

We are thrilled to welcome Navjeet Sira as our new CEO, an inspiring leader who has grown through our charity’s work and will carry our mission forward with heart and vision.

As we embrace this new chapter, we’re taking a 3-month digital detox, a time to reconnect, reflect, and strengthen our future for the young people we serve. We’ll be back online in the summer, ready to share what’s next.

Until then, enjoy the spring and all it brings. See you on the other side! 🌿💙

Dennis Hegarty from Sutton & Epsom RFC has been a fantastic support over the last few months, setting up and running a fundraising dinner at the Club to raise funds for our Visually Impaired Rugby Programme and if that wasn’t enough, also worked closely with us to host our recent International Visually Impaired Rugby Tournament at Sutton and Epsom, with teams from Japan, Ireland and England competing. Dennis worked closely with Caine and with our Chair of Ambassadors, Will, to create two exceptional events and we are delighted to make him our ‘Champion of Change’ for November.

The Change Foundation is partnering with Zurich to collect unwrapped presents for children aged 5-10 to go to Home-Start Sutton

Home Start Sutton support families local to our Cricket Centre all year round, but Christmas can be an especially stressful and difficult time. Knowing that their children will receive a Christmas present lightens the load significantly and you can help provide those moments of joy.

We are collecting through the first half of December, so take a look at the flyer below and, if you are fortunate enough to be able to, please send us a gift.

Thank you for your support and Season's Greetings!

International Visually Impaired Rugby tournament at Sutton and Epsom RFC

England emerged winners the Visually Impaired Rugby Alex Bassan Cup, beating Japan 10-0 (two tries to zero) in the final as the tournament’s players braved strong winds and driving rain in the hospitable surroundings of Sutton and Epsom RFC.

The first match saw England held to a 5-5 draw by the talented and hard-working Old Wesley Red side, who were one of two representing the Irish club.

The Reds bowed out in the semi-final , despite holding the visiting Japanese to a 10-10 draw. The tie was decided on the scorer of the first try. England overcame Old Wesley Green more comfortably in the other semi.

The keenly fought final was expertly refereed by The Change Foundation’s Dan Lineker who kept order and a free-flowing game in hazardous conditions.

The host club has TCF Chair of Ambassadors Will Taborn as part of its playing staff and received warm praise from Japan Blind Rugby Union director Takashi Kikutani, who was one of the team’s enthusiastic fans, seated alongside a Rising Sun banner.

“The whole event has been great and it is a pleasure for our players and supporters to be part of it,” he said. “I hope it is the start of something special for our sport.”

In the end though, it was England captain Jack Pearce who held aloft the Alex Bassan Cup – paying a tribute to his talented and competitive group of players as he did so.

Results:
England 5 5 Old Wesley Red
Japan 20 5 Old Wesley Green
Old Wesley Red 35 5 Old Wesley Green
Japan 10 5 Old Wesley Red
England 35 0 Old Wesley Green
Old Wesley Red 10 10 Japan (winners on first try rule)
England 10 0 Japan (Final)

The Change Foundation Welcomes Navjeet Sira as New CEO

We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Navjeet Sira as our next CEO. Nav’s journey with The Change Foundation began in 2010 as a volunteer coach, and now, she steps into this role as a dynamic leader ready to take the charity into a bold new era:

"Guiding this remarkable charity into its next chapter is the greatest privilege. My 15-year journey has been shaped by the extraordinary young people I have met, a team that have championed me, and mentors who pushed me beyond my own expectations. Now, I’m ready to take bold action. I’m excited to launch new ideas, deepen our work, and meet young people where they are as their needs grow increasingly complex. I look forward to brave collaborations and building our centre as a home of excellence for sport and social change. I can’t wait to welcome everyone to be a part of this.”

Our Chair Vicky Lowe, shared:

"The Board are delighted to welcome Nav to the role of CEO. Her passion for The Change Foundation, and her experience within the sport for social change sector, made her the ideal candidate to continue to grow our impact with young people."

Nav will officially assume the role in early 2025, marking an inspiring next chapter for The Change Foundation and the communities we serve.

At the annual Coutts tournament, The Change Foundation squad overcame last year’s semi-final heartbreak in epic fashion.

Competing to raise funds for The Change Foundation, the TCF team—Ross, Dan, Jordan, Dean, and two Street Elite alumni—swept through the group stage, winning all four games.

The final began with TCF trailing 3-0, but Jordan’s goal turned the tide, followed by two strikes from the alumni stars to level the score. Dean’s tireless work kept the team’s momentum high, driving play forward at crucial moments. With Dan making critical saves, the game stayed tight until Ross set up Jordan for the winning goal, sealing a 4-3 victory.

This thrilling comeback highlighted the team’s resilience and celebrated a successful fundraising effort.

This month's Champion of Change is Edward Trevor!

Edward Trevor has been a brilliant supporter of our charity for nearly ten years, being instrumental in securing over £50,000 of funding for our disability work in the London Borough of Sutton.

Over 1,000 children and young people have benefitted from Edward’s support over this time as part of programmes including Hit the Top, London Futures and Fencing 4 Change and his ongoing support has allowed us to offer free use to special needs groups in the borough and to develop our centre to be as accessible and welcoming as possible for young people who often do not have access to high quality sports facilities, coaching and competitions.

The centre has also been home to the England Blind Cricket Team and the England Visually Impaired Rugby Team and none of this would have been possible without Edward’s wonderful support.
