πŸ’§ Looking for simple ways to save water this summer?

Our new video, created with WaterSafe Register and Life Before Plastic, shows some of the simple things we can all do at home to change up our water use habits.

It’s also a great introduction to what a β€˜water health’ check could pick up.

Small changes can make a big difference. πŸ’§πŸ‘‡

βš½πŸ’§ Big news!
We’re excited to announce that Waterwise has secured funding from The for our new Water Wise Sports Clubs project! πŸŽ‰

Working with Sports Foundation, we’ll be supporting grassroots sports clubs to save water, reduce costs and become more sustainable.

Over the next 12 months, we’ll help clubs to:

πŸ’§ Understand how they use water
πŸ”§ Identify leaks and make practical improvements
🚿 Install simple water saving solutions
⚽ Improve pitch water management
πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§ Engage players, families and volunteers through interactive workshops

Sport is a powerful gateway to engaging whole communities in water efficiency, helping build lasting water saving habits both at clubs and at home.

As Matthew Everitt, Community Director at Bradford Park Avenue, said:
"As a community club, we’re proud to be part of a collaborative initiative empowering young people and families to adopt sustainable habits for the future. By working alongside Waterwise and other organisations, we’re using the power of grassroots sport to build more resilient, sustainable communities and maximise our collective impact."

A huge thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund and to National Lottery players for making this project possible. πŸ’™

β˜€οΈ Is the UK ready for the β€œnew normal” of climate extremes?

With prolonged heatwaves and hosepipe bans reaching more parts of the UK, it’s time to have a serious conversation about water.

In her latest blog, Waterwise CEO Nicci Russell explains why water scarcity is a β€œnow” issue, not a distant future problem.

Here are three key things to know:

πŸ’§ Demand is rising – Since 1970, the UK population has grown by 12 million, and our individual water use has roughly doubled.
πŸ’§ Climate extremes are becoming more common – The Met Office has warned that extreme weather is increasingly part of our reality, and even traditionally wet areas are experiencing water restrictions.
πŸ’§ A major gap is emerging – The Environment Agency warns of a 5 billion litre daily shortfall by 2055. Fixing leaks is important, but it won’t be enough on its own.

Simple actions you can take today: βœ… Let your lawn go golden during dry spells βœ… Cut one minute off your shower and save around 15 litres βœ… Check for leaky toilets and taps βœ… Keep a jug of cold water in the fridge instead of running the tap

Whether you’re in a hosepipe ban area or not, small changes add up. Using water wisely helps protect our environment, our economy, and our future water supplies.

With temperatures soaring across the UK this week this is our reminder to the good people of the UK that nature was built for this πŸ’ͺ 🌾

We need to stay focused on prioritising saving water day to day, especially during periods of hot, dry weather.

So take this as your official reminder: A golden lawn is not a dead lawn πŸ‘ Tell your friends, partners and neighbours.

Grass is surprisingly resilient and naturally slows down in hot weather. It turns brown and golden not because it’s dead, but because it’s protecting itself from the heat, and it will bounce back to green once cooler, wetter weather returns

So skip the sprinkler, let the lawn rest, and help save water when it matters most!
