Future Dreams

Future Dreams Future Dreams was started in 2008 by mother and daughter Sylvie Henry and Danielle Leslie.

We offer a wide range of in-person and online services providing practical, emotional and psychological support for those diagnosed with breast cancer, fund vital secondary breast cancer research, and promote breast health awareness. By a cruel twist of fate, they were both diagnosed with Breast Cancer, Danielle just 35 and a mother of 3 young children. Tragically both women lost their lives to th

e disease within a year of each other in 2009. Since 2008 we have continued their legacy to raise over £6.5m for support, awareness and research.

Congratulations to Helen Addis on being awarded an MBE for her services to breast cancer awareness!

Last month, Helen had the privilege of attending Buckingham Palace to receive her award, recognising the incredible impact she has made through her tireless advocacy and awareness work.

As a Future Dreams ambassador and founder of the Change + Check campaign, Helen has transformed her own breast cancer experience into a powerful force for change, helping thousands of people understand the importance of knowing their bodies and the value of early detection.

Helen has been a longstanding supporter of Future Dreams and, in 2023, was honoured as the first recipient of the Future Dreams Lightning Bolt Award, created in memory of Nicky Newman and awarded to someone who embodies Nicky’s inspiring “Go Grab Life” mantra.

We are so proud to celebrate this latest achievement and all that Helen continues to do for the breast cancer community.

Nominations are now open for the Future Dreams Lightning Bolt Award in honour of Nicky Newman and her "Go Grab Life" spirit. ⚡

The Lightning Bolt Award exists to recognise someone who carries Nicky's electric "Go Grab Life" spirit. Someone who hasn't let a breast cancer diagnosis define them, but has used their experience to inspire others, drive change and uplift the breast cancer community around them. This September, we'll honour an individual whose positivity, courage and impact embody everything this award stands for.

Two years ago, the first-ever Lightning Bolt Award was presented to Helen Addis MBE, recognising her tireless work to improve awareness, support and access to treatment for those affected by breast cancer.

If you, or someone you know, embodies Nicky's incredible spirit and approach to life, we'd love to hear their story.

Milestones...they can feel big, momentous, exciting even scary sometimes. But after a breast cancer diagnosis, they can take on a whole new meaning.

You’ll often hear the “taking one day at a time” mantra about not getting ahead of yourself, especially when you are in recovery. For some people, ticking off the firsts - first time back at work, first holiday, first family occasion - helps put distance between them and breast cancer. Is chalking off these milestones a good thing?

In episode 4 of 'And Then Came Breast Cancer' Victoria talks to Fran and Kimmy about the hurdles they’ve put behind them on their post-cancer journey. Give it a listen now on your favourite podcast app or click the link below https://futuredreams.pulse.ly/isscqenp26
