Accessible Tennis

A quick reminder that it’s not too late to take part in our accessible tennis programme.

The sessions are designed for those affected by brain injury. This includes those with mobility difficulties.

We have members taking part whilst seated, using the tennis club’s garden chairs, using their own rollators and also their own wheelchairs. This is being done to great effect and the sessions are very well received, with everyone having fun.

To quote one member –“After brain injury being a life changing event, we are severely challenged and lost so much and feel useless and an alien in society. This assisted tennis makes us feel normal again, sociable and gain a huge achievement.”

The remaining sessions are on the following Tuesdays, from 11am until 12 noon:-

16 June
23 June
30 June

These are free of charge for our member and are all at Harrogate Spa Tennis & Padel Centre – First class facilities on and off the courts.
This is a fully accessible venue, with step‑free access, an accessible bathroom and a café. To find it, please visit:- https://maps.app.goo.gl/rgBQWqdGMZibGrkY8
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Many thanks

Peter

Tennis on 19 May 2026 – Rescheduled

Our next accessible tennis session was scheduled for 19 May 2026. However, we recognise that many will be tired from the long day out to the seaside on 18 May 2026. The session on 19 May 2026 has therefore been rescheduled.
To avoid losing a session, we have extended the programme instead. This means that the final session is now on 30 June 2026.
The five remaining sessions are therefore on the following Tuesdays, from 11am until 12 noon:-
2 June
9 June
16 June
23 June

We’d like to warmly invite you to our new Headway UK ‘Your Space’ on Tuesday 19th May at 2pm, with Consultant Neuropsychologist Dr Rodger Weddell.

Topic: Isolation Following Brain Injury

Rodger will begin with some thoughts on the topic, followed by a friendly group discussion where people can share experiences, challenges, and ideas if they would like to.
This is a safe and supportive space where you can listen, join in, or simply be there with others who understand. You are never expected to share more than you feel comfortable with.

Hi everyone,
I’m just writing to remind you about Headway Harrogate’s AGM and Social, which will be taking place on Monday 27 April, from 2.00pm to 4.00pm at the Everyman Cinema, Harrogate. We are very lucky to have Doctor Joanna Obrien joining us to talk about how mood influences our lives.
If you arrive a little early, we kindly ask that you wait in the main bar area, as this will give the Committee time to finish setting up the room. Thank you very much for your understanding and support.
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is a great opportunity to:
Hear about Headway Harrogate’s activities and finances over the past year
Ask questions
Share ideas and suggestions for future talks and activities
Following the AGM, there will be time to relax and socialise in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. There will be plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits, and lots of time to chat, catch up with old friends, and meet new people.
