Invitation to take part in a PhD research study: Which mechanisms support workforce transformation for a safe, effective and resilient perioperative care workforce?

Do skills programmes and advanced practice roles actually make perioperative services more sustainable? I am looking for people across the UK who can help me answer that, including learners and practitioners on skills or advanced practice pathways, educators, practice facilitators, mentors, theatre managers and workforce leads.

You can take part whether you work in the NHS, the independent sector, a university, a professional body or elsewhere. You would be taking part as an individual, in your own time, not on behalf of your employer.

This is a UCL PhD study using a realist approach, so it is less interested in whether a programme worked and more interested in how it worked, for whom, and in what circumstances.

• One online conversation of about an hour
• Optional focus group
• Short validating survey later on (about 20 minutes)

Conversations are not recorded; a transcript is taken and anonymised, and you will not be identifiable in anything published.

Putting human factors at the heart of safer surgery

Every day, perioperative teams work in complex, high-pressure environments shaped by staffing pressures, increasing patient acuity, technological advances, fatigue, workload and the need for effective teamwork and communication.
