This quarter’s Avalink meeting took place in York, bringing together representatives from across Yorkshire and the North East.

Avalink is driven by the people we support. It’s their forum, their voice and their opportunity to influence the things that matter to them, from the services we provide to how Avalon works as an organisation.

Meeting every three months, Avalink gives people the space to share ideas, challenge, question and shape the direction we take.

We’re hiring: CQC Registered Locality Managers – York & Doncaster 📣

Are you an experienced social care leader looking for an opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of the people we support?

The Avalon Group is looking for two experienced, values-driven Registered Managers to lead our services in York and Doncaster.

These are key leadership roles, combining strategic thinking with strong operational management across our Supported Living, Community Care and Shared Lives services. You’ll lead teams, drive service development and improvement, build strong relationships with partners and stakeholders, and ensure we continue to deliver safe, high-quality, person-centred support.

We’re looking for confident and collaborative leaders who are passionate about choice, independence and positive outcomes, with experience of managing social care services and leading teams.

As part of our commitment to developing our people, you’ll have access to specialist training and development, opportunities to progress your leadership skills and career, up to 30 days’ annual leave, a health cash plan, employee assistance programme and more.

From arriving in foster care as a scared six-year-old to securing a college apprenticeship and celebrating his 21st birthday surrounded by family, James’s journey shows the true heart of Shared Lives.

When James turned 18, transitioning to Shared Lives meant he didn't have to leave the place he called home. Staying with his carers, Debbie and Dave gave him the stability to learn practical skills - from using power tools to budgeting - and build independence at his own pace.

Today, James is thriving in his college apprenticeship and planning for his own independent future:

"I came to Debbie and Dave as a scared little boy. And they've brought me up and taught me right from wrong. It's nice to know that I've got all these people that care about me and love me and see me as family."

Shared Lives is a journey of belonging, growth and lifelong connection.
