What a wonderful day are the Official Opening of the Scottish Parliament. And especially lovely to be joined by Tony O’Brien who joined me as Eastwood’s local hero.
Every MSP was able to nominate a local hero - someone who has made a great difference in our community. I had some brilliant nominations, all wholly deserving of hero status, and I’m grateful for them all.
Tony has spent the last 15 years volunteering with the 121st Scouts, supporting thousands of local boys and girls. He’s done every imaginable job, rolling his sleeves up and doing everything possible to improve the lives of our young people. He’s a brilliant local hero.
I’m so glad he was able to join me for a day to remember with a wonderful opening ceremony featuring brilliant young people from across the country as well as moving speeches and lots of opportunity thereafter to hear more about all the great work the local heroes from across the county have been doing.
