Huge congratulations to young Bodhi (on the right πŸ˜‰) who picked up a silver medal in the u13 chanter at the Glasgow Local Mod contest! A brilliant achievement from one of our chanter students, who is also tutored by Pipe Sergeant Bobby Allen
Well done Bodhi - you've certainly got a bright future in piping ahead of you!

After a great run at the British Championships the weekend before last (we placed 7th in Grade 3b), the band made the trip down the West Coast to Girvan yesterday to compete in the Carrick Lowland Gathering.
Despite the challenging conditions (a recurring theme this season!), the band put in 2 great runs as the build up to the European Championships progresses. A 1st place in the Grade 3 competition and 1st in the Open category certainly made the trip worthwhile.

Big shout out to pipe sergeant Bobby Allen on a fantastic couple of performances at the Blair Atholl Games on Sunday, making it through to the final and going on to win the Senior Open Hornpipe and Jig, in a stacked field.

Well played Bobby πŸ‘ŒπŸŽΆ

The band had a great day out at the Dollar Pipe Band Competition yesterday in the run up to our appearance at The British Pipe Band Championships next Saturday, where we compete at 14.20 in Grade 3B.

A strong performance in a tough combined Grade 3 field saw us place 4th overall, just outside the prize list (top 3 only at this one).
A long overdue warm sunny day meant we could also enjoy listening to some of the other 50 or so bands who were competing (Grade 1 is going to be phenomenal this year!). Some quality stuff all through the grades so it should be a bumper season full of great music 🎢

Well done to Livingston Caledonia winning our grade, and to all the other prize winners.

See you all at Ingleston!

We've had a few requests asking when the band is competing this season, so thought we'd share our schedule for the year ahead.

Next up is Dollar a week on Saturday followed quickly by the British Pipe Band Championships at Ingleston on the 30th May.

Hope to see many of you there and good luck to all taking part!

The band had a great outing on our debut in grade 3 at Gourock today. A strong medley performance, placing us 3rd in grade 3, was followed up with a determined effort as temperatures dropped for the MSR in grade 2.
Massive thanks to all those who came along to support. We're all looking forward to push on with the rest of the season.

It's been a busy week at Williamwood HQ!

First up - huge congratulations to drummer Catherine and piper Gregor on their recent engagement! We wish you all the best on behalf of the Band and all our supporters! πŸ’

Secondly, we welcomed a few of our members back from a trip to Balingen, Germany where they took part in the piping festival over there. It was a huge success and one we hope to keep returning to in the coming years 🍻

Lastly, but certainly not least, the band return to the Grade 3 competition arena at the Gourock Highland Games on Sunday. We hit the line at 14.28 in the Grade 3 competition and again at 16.10 for the Grade 2 performance. We hope to see a few supporters along tomorrow as the band opens a new chapter, returning to grade 3 for the first time in 7 years. 🎢

The band took to the floor in our first competition as a Grade 3 band at the Lothian & Borders Livingston indoors yesterday afternoon. A compact corp gave a great account of themselves, with very good performances in the Grade 3 Medley and Grade 2 MSR competitions.

Congratulations to Pipe Sergeants Bobby Allen on his 3rd place, and Seumas Scullion for a solid performance in a very competitive solo MSR competition earlier on the day.

Next up is Gourock on Sunday 10th May, so it's back to the practice hall to make refinements and integrate more of the band members before the start of the outdoor season.

Huge thanks to Finlay MacDonald and Bobby Allen for providing top quality piping and to all the sponsors and supporters for making the night a resounding success.
