Edinburgh Food Project

Edinburgh Food Project Edinburgh Food Project
Emergency Food For Local People in Crisis. Individuals are only referred from professional front line care agencies.

Due to changes in the benefit system, redundancy or debt, individuals and families can find themselves having to choose between food, electricity and rent. Edinburgh Food Project runs foodbanks in the North West, Centre and East of Edinburgh and can provide people with short-term emergency food parcels whilst the crisis is addressed.

This isn't the starting eleven for tomorrow's big game against Morocco... ⚽️

It's actually a line up of our most urgently needed food items to support food banks across Edinburgh. If you're heading to the supermarket to get refreshments for your watch party, please add these items into your basket to donate to the food banks, and help those facing crisis in the city.

We'll also be hosting a food drive at ASDA The Jewel on Friday 26 June, if you would like to say hi and chat with our fantastic team of volunteers.

A huge well done to our fundraisers who got muddy for food banks at Tough Mudder Scotland earlier this month! They battled their way through 15k of over 20 obstacles, well deserving their medal and the iconic orange headband awarded at the finish line. Most importantly, they raised over £1,000 in vital funds to support people facing hunger in our city - the impact of which will be felt just down the road from the event site at our South Queensferry food bank.

Our thanks to the Kwik Fit Edinburgh employees who took on Tough Mudder for people facing crisis in the city.

It's !

To celebrate the fantastic work our volunteers do year-round, we had tour guide Susan lead a special tour of the city with the theme; 'Feeding change - democracy in Edinburgh through the ages'. Although the weather didn't start off great, as always, our volunteers brought the warmth they offer at our food banks with them and the sun eventually started to peek its head out ☀️.

It was great to learn more and build a stronger connection to the city where we live, work and support people facing crisis. Following the tour, we held a reception for our volunteers in the Greyfriars Kirk with refreshments, a fun activity and the opportunity to tour the historic church.

A thank you to Greyfriars Kirk for providing us with the space for our event and a HUGE thank you to our volunteers who give so much to our organisation. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do. Thank you to each and every one of you. ❤️

At our Craigmillar Community Hub based inside the Thistle Foundation, in addition to our foodbank, we also host drop-in services.

These are run by other organisations in the city, offering tailored support to the community. Drop-in services do not require referrals and are open to everyone, regardless of where they live or whether they use the foodbank.

This month, you can find Changeworks, Turning Point Scotland, The Salvation Army United Kingdom and Ireland Territory, VOCAL Edinburgh, The City of Edinburgh Council, Places for People, APEX Scotland, AdvoCard and VoiceAbility.

Please share as someone else may find the services available helpful.

What a day it was for a run ☀️. To our runners, all your hard work and training has paid off. Thank you for taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival! Whatever distance you ran, together you raised an incredible £13,000+ to support people facing crisis in this city.

You can still show your support to the runners by donating to their fundraising pages or if you missed out this year, entries for 2027 are now open. You can run for Edinburgh Food Project by visiting the link: https://www.edinburghmarathon.com/charity/edinburgh-food-project/

You may have spotted some familiar faces on TV last week... 👀

We made not one but two appearances on the BBC! Our Strategic Partnership and Development Lead Colin was on Politics Live before the Scottish elections. After the elections, Edinburgh Food Project Chief Executive Laura asked a question to new and returning MSPs on Debate Night.

If you're interested in hearing what they had to say, you can watch on BBC iPlayer.
