Reflecting on five unforgettable days at Various Voices Brussels 2026 in Brussels back in June. 🇧🇪❤️
From performing for new audiences in incredible concert halls to braving the outdoor heatwave (and managing not to faint mid performance!), it was an amazing week. Getting to see so many talented LGBTQ+ choirs from across Europe was so special!
The lasting impact for many of us was making new friends & connecting with the wider community, plus Loud & Proud growing even closer as a choir family. So proud of everyone involved - roll on VV 2030! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️✨

Dubbed Scotland’s unofficial national anthem, “Caledonia” (an ancient name for Scotland) is an emotional and evocative song that speaks to themes of home, identity, longing and belonging - concepts that resonate powerfully within the q***r community.

Our choir, Loud and Proud Scotland, has adopted the song as one of our signature pieces - the original writer and performer, Dougie Maclean, has warmly welcomed this, and gifted us the right to sing and perform it freely! Dougie sent us a message:

“Best wishes to all the Loud and Proud singers and choir community. I hope you enjoy singing Caledonia as much as I still do!

This summer, for the first time, three Scottish q***r choirs share the stage for A Celebration of Pride! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🦄✨

🎤 Loud & Proud recently had the privilege of being part of the National Theatre of Scotland’s Mayday production - a one-night-only experience at Edinburgh’s Central Hall, co-curated and directed by Cora Bissett and Hannah Lavery.

The project brought together a rousing line-up of Scottish performers to respond to the times we are living through, and start to imagine a more hopeful future for us all.

We performed Stonewall, one of our signature pieces, written for us by Ali Burns. We also sang in a full-cast rendition of Patti Smith’s People Have the Power.
