Why you should do it?

In volunteer peace camps, you have the opportunity for intercultural encounters and unique experiences. You can practice your collaborative skills, learn new ideas to implement in your community, and build friendships with other volunteers and locals from around the world. Plus as a volunteer, you contribute to solving problems by bringing a fresh perspective.

For you

You will meet other volunteers who share common values: a commitment to respect, diversity, responsibility, and a more sustainable future. Our volunteers are people deeply dedicated to inclusion, who value inner peace as well as peaceful relationships with others, and who embrace diversity. They are driven to promote peace in their communities and are passionate about environmental sustainability and making conscious choices.

For the community

You will contribute to the local communities, who see volunteering as a valuable tool to drive positive change.

Local partners reported that SCI activities encouraged greater involvement in environmental conservation efforts, inspired actions for peace, and fostered openness toward others in their community.

For the environment

Through these experiences, we hope to help safeguard our planet and teach the value of a sustainable lifestyle.

You will gain a deeper awareness of how to respect the environment, of which we are a part and on which we depend.

How does it work?

Participating is easy: you apply on our website volunteer.sci.ngo pay a small fee and cover your travel costs, and the rest is provided!

Happy International Volunteer Day! ☮️

The 2025 edition of the Exchange Platform Meeting (EPM) of Service Civil International (SCI) happened last week in Bonn, hosted by SCI Germany.

The annual meeting of SCI brought together 49 participants of 31 different nationalities representing 35 Branches, Groups, Partners and Contact organisations based in 33 different countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America.

IVS was represented by Nuno Doria, our Programme Manager:

“Common Ground in Peace Work was the theme of this year's EPM and that was certainly found during this meeting. It was a vibrant and intense week, always filled with respect, coherence and a firm belief on our values of non-violence, dialogue and practical action.”

🎪 CAMP KERNOW: ENVIRONMENTAL ADVENTURE CAMP WITH CHILDREN IN CORNWALL

Camp Kernow is a not-for-profit organisation which operates an award-winning and innovative off-grid environmental adventure camp reconnecting children with nature and inspiring sustainability through summer camp experiences.

The work is varied and interesting, providing a rich experience as volunteers support children during activities, offer supervision, encouragement and 1:1 care, assist instructors with setup and delivery, oversee children during free time and many more activities!
