https://impactstadium.gofundraise.co.uk/ The causes and characteristics of homelessness around the world are complex and varied. Homeless people experience social exclusion and stigmatization, economic hardship and poverty, and physical and ment

al health problems. The Homeless World Cup exists to help end this crisis in all its forms. Everyone deserves a home—a fundamental human right (UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights). In 2001, Mel Young and Harald Schmied developed the idea of utilising sport to inspire homeless people to transform their futures. The international language of football seemed an obvious vehicle, and the Homeless World Cup was born. The first tournament was held in 2003 in Graz, Austria. The success of the Homeless World Cup is proof that football has the power to change lives. The Homeless World Cup operates via a network of 74 national partners, supporting football-based programmes and social enterprise development around the world. These street football organizations run local projects in 420 cities, reaching 100,000 homeless people every year. So far, the Homeless World Cup and its partners have impacted the lives of 1 million homeless people around the globe. Together, we can transform lives through football.

Half-time in the USA’s first FIFA World Cup game on home soil since 1994 🇺🇸⚽

Three years ago, the USA also hosted another World Cup in Sacramento, California.

The Homeless World Cup.

Just $150 can support one person through a Homeless World Cup Member Country programme and help change a life through football.

This is Pedro, who represented the USA after experiencing homelessness while trying to support his two children.

“Being here in the Homeless World Cup, I learned that there’s other people dealing with similar issues, and we use soccer to help cope with those problems.”

A different kind of player.
A different kind of football story.

Are you enjoying Korea Republic v Czechia at the FIFA World Cup? It's the first time the two nations have met before in an official fixture ⚽

The Seoul 2024 Homeless World Cup had a lot of first moments for us 🏆

It was the first time the tournament was held in Asia, it was also the first time we'd worked in partnership with FIFA after signing our MoU in August that year and the Homeless World Cup was streamed on FIFA+ for the first time as well.

Read about the impact of the tournament and meet some of the players who represented their country at the Homeless World Cup in Seoul 🇰🇷 ❤️

FIFA World Cup Opening Ceremonies are usually a little bigger than ours... but we can't wait to see what's in store at the Estadio Azteca shortly before the first ball is kicked in Mexico City.

But we'd challenge anyone to find a happier Opening Parade than 500 Homeless World Cup players from 50 nations dancing their way through the streets of Oslo last August ahead of our 20th tournament.

Different stage. Same game.

While the world celebrates football tonight, we're working to ensure 5,000 more people can experience the power of the game through the Homeless World Cup movement.

Today Mexico will take on South Africa in the opening game at the FIFA World Cup - Mexico is the most successful nation at the Homeless World Cup - winning the men's title 6 times and the women's title 9 times 🇲🇽

Meet the man behind the team, Daniel Copto, who has led 100s of players to the Homeless World Cup and whose inspiration didn't start in Mexico, but in fellow FIFA World Cup host nation, Canada 🇨🇦

Did you know that 31 Homeless World Cup Member Countries will have a nation competing at the FIFA World Cup?

Over the next 39 days, while the world watches football’s biggest tournament, we’ll be sharing another side of the global game.

From Mexico to Egypt.
Canada to Brazil.
USA to England.

Stories of football changing lives.

Across our 75 Member Countries, the Homeless World Cup movement supports more than 200,000 people every year through football, community, connection and opportunity.

This isn’t a different football conversation.

It’s part of the same one.

Tomorrow, the FIFA World Cup begins.

Over the next few weeks, the world will focus on 16 stadiums with a combined capacity of more than 1 million seats across the biggest football tournament on earth.

But football’s greatest impact does not always happen inside a stadium.

For more than 20 years, the Homeless World Cup movement has used football to help more than 1.7 million people change their lives through football - more people than the combined capacity of every FIFA World Cup 2026 stadium.

📢 Now we need your help to fill our virtual stadium.

The Impact Stadium is our global fundraising campaign supporting the Homeless World Cup Foundation and 75 Member Countries around the world using football to tackle homelessness and social exclusion.

Our goal is simple:

115,000 seats sold.
5,000 lives changed.

And if just one in ten seats from the combined capacity of FIFA World Cup stadiums became an Impact Stadium seat, we would reach our goal.

Please support the campaign, buy a seat and help us continue changing lives through football.

Buy a seat. Change a life.
