As part of our 35th anniversary year trustees have been invited to develop fundraising events for Art in Healthcare. Andrea, our Vice-Chair has been working with Yoga Social Edinburgh to develop a Wellbeing Workshop on Sunday 29 November 2026, 2pm-5pm. All proceeds will be donated to Art in Healthcare, allowing us to continue to offer creative workshops to support health and wellbeing free at the point of delivery. If you'd like to attend, tickets can be booked through our shop:

Join us for a playful workshop led by Ruby and Greer Pester using the ‘Taking Creative Care’ toolkit currently on display as part of the Breathing Space exhibition. It is an evolving resource which includes a series of 32 activities which have been developed from holding therapeutic art workshops, exploring how art can help people manage pain, find respite, joy, relaxation and resilience in creativity to improve wellbeing.

Suitable for ages 8+, and all children must be accompanied by an adult. Attendance is free, but you must register by emailing [email protected]

Over the past year, our technician and technical apprentice have been working on the refurbishment of our artwork storage facilities. Last week, the first stage of this project was realised! In the lead-up to the installation of the new shelving units, the artwork was carefully wrapped before moving it to safe storage. The old shelves were removed, and new shelves were installed. These new units not only increase capacity but improve the conditions in which the artworks are stored whilst they’re not on display. The photographs below show the art store before and after the improvements.

We are excited to share some sneak peeks of the artworks created by our Creative Communities participants, volunteers and staff, which will be on full display in from 20-22 October, part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival (SMHAF)! There is a huge variety of materials and creative approaches on show, many of the artworks responding to the themes of '10 by 10' and 'reflections'. We hope to see you there!

As part of our 35th anniversary celebrations, Art in Healthcare is delighted to be working in partnership with the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society [CRM] to host a one-off conversation between Roger Billcliffe and Stuart Robertson. It will take place at the beautiful Mackintosh Queen’s Cross, Glasgow on Thursday 5 November 2026 at 7.00pm.

Roger Billcliffe is the Honorary President of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society and has been a significant figure in the Scottish art world for over fifty years. He was in charge of the art collections at the University of Glasgow, before becoming Keeper of Fine Art at Kelvingrove Art Gallery. He was Director of the Fine Art Society for more than two decades and is the author of ten significant books about the Glasgow Boys, Scottish Colourists, and Mackintosh, including the definitive catalogue of his furniture. From 1992 until his retirement last year Roger ran the eponymous Billcliffe Gallery, which exhibited and sold contemporary and 20th century Scottish art, and was at one time Scotland’s largest private gallery.

This event will see Roger in conversation with Stuart Robertson, former Director of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society. It is an opportunity to hear from Roger about his life in art; the collections overseen, the discoveries made, his connections with artists and professionals in the Scottish art world, and the impact of bringing Scottish art to wider public acclaim.

Breathing Space is an exhibition featuring a selection of artworks from the Art in Healthcare Collection, celebrating a commitment to improving lives through engaging with art and creativity.

The Park Gallery, has been an oasis for visitors for the past twenty-five years, offering the opportunity to learn, be challenged, and to view exhibitions staged with passion and care.

Over the last thirty-five years, Art in Healthcare has developed a collection of modern and contemporary art, including drawing, painting, print and photography. Featuring work by artists at various stages of their career, including RSA members and exhibiting artists from RSA New Contemporaries.

Callendar House in Falkirk is the place to be today. Enjoy!

We're heading over to Falkirk this Friday and Saturday, visiting Callendar Park on Friday 18th Sept (outside Callendar House) and Helix Park on Saturday 19th Sept in partnership with Falkirk Leisure and Culture. The gallery will be open 10am to 4pm and all welcome.

If you're planning to visit us at Callendar Park you can also visit 'Breathing Space' at The Park Gallery in Callendar House, an exhibition of work from the Art in Healthcare collection, and part of the RSA200 celebrations.
