With the October holidays in full swing and more people enjoying the park, we thought it was important to remind everyone about water safety within the River Park! 🏞️✨

Although ROSPA has rated the water features within the park as low or extremely low level of risk, thanks to their gradual, stepped banks, it’s still important to stay alert and take care around water. ‼️

Here are a few key things to remember when walking near ponds and rivers:

🗺️ Be aware of your surroundings
🌙 Avoid exploring the River Park at night
⚠️ Be aware of the risks of cold water shock
🐾 Never enter the water to rescue a pet, call for help instead
📱 If someone is in danger in the water, call '999' and ask for Fire & Rescue

We also encourage everyone to read the official water safety guidance from Water Safety Scotland to learn more about staying safe around water. 💦

The site of Kilmaronock Old Kirk Trust on Loch Lomondside is linked to Scotland's earliest Christians, some 1500 years ago.
Around 700 years ago King Robert the Bruce, around the time the parish is first recorded, granted its patronage to Cambuskenneth Abbey.
With the support of players a community trust has now redeveloped the modern (18th Century) church building as a local hub and heritage centre.

A couple of great museum job opportunities in the Highlands have popped up on our feed today.

A mere 106 miles separating them so obviously we're putting them in one post 😇 (with apologies to everyone in the Highlands who knows 106 miles is 132miles by road and over three hours travel)

The team at Timespan in Helmsdale, who we know well from Heritage Fund supported projects, are currently looking for a Venue & Operations Manager! (20 hrs pw) you will find full details over on their page.

West Highland Museum in Fort William, who are as lovely as Timespan and who we also know well, are looking for a Senior Museum Coordinator (FT fixed term) details over on their feed.

But our story is far from over! We’re preparing for our biggest challenge yet: moving an entire museum, including historic vehicles and over 7,000 collection objects, to our new home at Maryfield Tram Depot!
