Since its launch in 2017, The Royal Company of Merchants Enterprise Fund has awarded more than £60,000 in grants to new and aspiring businesses across Edinburgh🤝

Each year, entrepreneurs are invited to pitch their ideas at our annual Merchants Den, where they have just a few minutes to present their vision and demonstrate why their business deserves support from the Fund.

This year, we are proud to be supporting four outstanding businesses based in Edinburgh. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be shining a spotlight on each of them and the inspiring work they are doing.

We begin with Womens Football Hub , an initiative dedicated to empowering women and girls through football and creating more opportunities for them to participate in the game.

We were delighted to host a collaborative session with
The Dementia Trust this morning in our Court Room at The Merchants' Hall | Events Venue in Edinburgh 💡

Bringing together representatives from a range of sectors across the city, the session provided an opportunity to explore how dementia is shaping the experience of ageing in Edinburgh.

Through collaborative discussion, attendees shared insights, challenges, and ideas, leading to valuable conversations about how support for people living with dementia can be strengthened and how we can collectively do better.

We are proud to continue our charitable work through collaborations such as this and look forward to supporting more initiatives that make a meaningful difference in our communities 💜

It was a pleasure to welcome one of our charity partners, The Ripple Project, into The Merchants Hall last night 🤝

As part of our new ‘In Conversation’ series, Community Charity Coordinator, Todd Bioletti led an engaging and insightful discussion with Rachel Green, CEO and Director of The Ripple Project.

The relaxed interview-style format gave Members the opportunity to learn more about The Ripple Project’s work, ask questions, and explore ways to become further involved. The conversation sparked some excellent discussion, with many Members leaving inspired by new ideas for future collaboration.

Yesterday, on Wednesday 1st July, we were honoured to witness the Royal Regiment of Scotland’s 20th Anniversary Parade as it made its way through the city, along the Royal Mile and down the Mound 🥁

The parade concluded in West Princes Street Gardens, where our patron, His Majesty King Charles III, unveiled a commemorative memorial statue to mark this important anniversary.

A number of dignitaries including the Lord Provost, members of Armed Forces, Veterans and Families Comminity were invited to attend the unveiling, including our Master, Grant Macrae OBE and Senior Company Officer, Graham McDonald, who previously served with the Regiment.

We are proud of our long-standing commitment to recognising and supporting the Armed Forces and were delighted to be represented at this memorable celebration 🏅

There was a great turnout for our Whisky Club event last night in the Court Room 🥃

Newly appointed Member, Sonny Charles, expertly led the group through a five-deal tasting, where he shared facts about cask management, selection and bottling.

It was fantastic to feel the enthusiasm for whisky in the room and to see the club really beginning to take shape after it’s creation earlier this year.

We’re already looking forward to the next tasting!

Another day, another flag raised at The Merchants Hall 🇬🇧

This week marks Armed Forces Week, an opportunity to recognise and show our support for the Armed Forces Community, including serving personnel, veterans, cadets and their families.

Last week, we were proud to sign the Armed Forces Covenant and receive the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Bronze Award. Flying the Armed Forces Day flag outside The Merchants Hall today reflects our ongoing commitment to that support.

With Armed Forces Day taking place this Saturday 27th June, there are plenty of ways to get invovled and show your support.
