🌿 ‘From the Fragment to the Whole: Exploring Arran’s Temperate Rainforests’

A reminder that our three free workshops on Arran are coming up 12-14 October.

Led by IAP Associate Artist Saffy Setohy with Joanna Young, the workshops explore Arran’s temperate rainforests through walking, citizen science, drawing, writing, archaeology and conversation.

🍁 Each workshop will have a slightly different emphasis relating to the place where it is happening- come to one, two or all three of the sessions.

🙏 Workshops are facilitated by dance & multidisciplinary artists Saffy Setohy and Joanna Young, with artist Rosamund McCormack, Drumadoon Estate, Arran Archaeology Group, Arran Rainforest CIC, and National Trust for Scotland.

👉 This October mid-term break, we present three free creative, outdoor workshops exploring temperate rainforest environments of Arran, led by IAP Associate Artist Saffy Setohy with Joanna Young.

🌿 ‘From the Fragment to the Whole: Exploring Arran’s Temperate Rainforests’ is a way to connect with the rainforest environments of Arran through sensory and mindful activities, explore our relationship with these fascinating and life-giving ecologies in the past and present, and learn about the work of local groups to preserve and regenerate them for the future. Workshops include gentle creative movement, walking, citizen science, drawing, writing, archaeology and conversation.

🕐 Each of the 4–5-hour workshops include a 1 – 3 hour walk and ends with an indoor activity and refreshments.

🫶 It’s been a year of recruitment at IAP and we are pleased to share that we had two new team members join us in May and June.

👉 Firstly, Saffy Setohy joined us as Associate Artist this May. Saffy is a socially-engaged dance artist exploring temperate rainforest in Scotland.

👉 Secondly, Noémie Lorenzi joined us in June as Producer, working across a numberof projects, including collaborating with our Associate Artists Saffy, Biff and Lead Artist Joanna Young on Sensory Workshops for Elders in Govanhill Glasgow.

We are seeking 4 part-time Sensory Artists and 1 part-time Sensory Producer.
Sensory Producer (0.8 FTE / 4 days / 28hrs per week)
£32,000 per year (£25,600 actual). 18 month contract

Start date: Week of 28 September 2026.

Congratulations to all the nominees!

Ideas Jukebox by Hazel Darwin-Clements, an Independent Arts Projects production premiered at Lyth Arts Centre on 31 August 2025. It was presented as part of a tour commissioned by Splore, the North Scotland Children’s Theatre and Dance Network between August 2025 and March 2026.

Producer Nina Doherty finishes up with IAP today after almost four and a half years. Starting with us as Sensory Collective producer in November 2021, Nina has been a key collaborator for projects led by Kirstin Abraham, Max Alexander, Sonia Allori, Jack Hunter, Aya Kobayashi, K Biff Nicolson, Ellen Renton, Saffy Setohy, Niroshini Thambar, Joanna Young.

Nina has presented work across schools, community spaces, care settings, theatres, woodlands and arts spaces. She has also been a core member of staff across huge periods of uncertainty, growth & change.

We’re so grateful for all that Nina has contributed to IAP in this time and wish her the very best in her new role with Vanishing Point in Glasgow.
