Ecas bridged the gap between and last weekend by treating our Befriending Volunteers to a day out at the National Galleries of Scotland Modern One.

HUGE thanks to our befrienders for the work they do in supporting adults with physical disabilities in Edinburgh AND to Victoria Galloway of Befriending Networks for giving her time to discuss the impact of volunteering.

Thanks also to Café at Modern One for some excellent food, and to Duncan and Poppy for a guided tour of the gallery!

Congratulations to Rosa, our brilliant Befriending Assistant, on receiving an Inspiring Volunteer Award this week. Rosa volunteers for Change Mental Health facilitating a creative writing group for their Signature project which is for men with histories of trauma,

'Volunteering with Change Mental Health is a fun and enriching experience. We share perspectives and I’ve got to know some interesting people from outside my normal bubble. Seeing the importance of friendly social interaction for mental health and wellbeing is something I am aware of both through my own volunteering and witnessing the impact of Ecas’s befrienders.

'Being a volunteer is a vital aspect of creating this environment, as everyone knows a volunteer wants to be there – it’s not their day job.'
