Duncan Place Leith

Duncan Place Leith Welcome to Duncan Place: where good things happen! Community events, hourly room hire and office space for charities & not for profits.

A beautiful, historic building with a refurbished spacious interior in the heart of our community. Duncan Place Community & Enterprise Hub is now open! You have told us you would like art groups, health and fitness, support and advice, educational activities, social events, groups for children and young adults. We will begin working towards bringing these activities to Leith. Duncan Place is a 'pr

ofit for purpose' social enterprise with profit being returned to the building for maintenance, improvements, equipment and community events.

Massive thank you to All Aboard Edinburgh once again for taking such good care of our Laughter for Health & Happiness group today. The other half of the class took a trip back in April, and we were lucky again to be gifted with lovely weather today. Floating on down the canal, chatting, sharing food, enjoying nature, and taking a break from the busy city streets. We would highly recommend any community groups to get in touch with All Aboard Edinburgh They're fantastic! The volunteers made us feel at ease and at home. ❤️

We have a lot of love for our Laughter group who will turn 4 next month; one of our longest running groups! They're really a fantastic bunch, and there was much laughter shared this afternoon, as there is every Thursday morning in Duncan Place. Interested in joining the class? Get in touch with us for more information at [email protected]

👉 We're opening up a few spaces to join our Tuesday evening community choir. 😮🎶😮🎶😮🎶

Our upcoming 8-week choir block will run from Tuesday 18th August until Tuesday 6th October. The choir meet from 7pm til 8:45pm, and the block costs £45 which is paid in advance before the block starts.

If you'd like to join a friendly bunch of folks in your community to sing together, led by a fantastic, enthusiastic choir leader (Seraph Davidson), then this is the choir for you!

We welcome all singers aged 18 and over, whether you’re a complete beginner or seasoned singer. There are no auditions, and everything is learned by ear, you do not need to read music.

We sing acapella enjoying a range of material from folk, soul, pop, gospel and traditional songs in other languages. Songs that celebrate community, nature and humanity feature highly in the repertoire.

Singing in a choir can be a wonderful boost to your health and wellbeing. It’s a proven way to reduce stress levels and a great way to meet new people.

If you'd like to join, or find out more, please email Drew at [email protected]

There's only a couple of spaces left for our next new member session at our Laughter for Health and Happiness Group, this Thursday 6th August!

It's hilarious, joyful and a good workout! If you're looking to laugh a bit more, to meet new people, or just to find a new activity that will help you feel healthy and happy, our laughter group is the perfect thing.

We have a new member session on the first session of each month, this month the session falls on this coming Thursday, 6th August. As this is a popular group, we're prioritising folks who live, work, or volunteer in or around Leith, and can attend regularly.

Our weekly Laughter classes run for an hour on Thursday mornings from 11am. Laughter Consultant and Ambassador Jo Bluett will guide the group through learning to use laughter as a tool to lift mood, manage pain & reduce stress. ❤️❤️❤️

The standard class cost is £6. If you'd like to come along and give it a try, please get in touch by emailing [email protected] to reserve a space (or you can book on Eventbrite!). Let's have a giggle together! 🤣❤️

* Coming up on 1st August! *

Relief Tiles clay workshop for adults
Saturday 1st August
10:30am - 1pm
£20

Join artist Keisha Rowe in a 2.5-hour hand-building session exploring texture, pattern, and mark-making to develop a series of 4 clay tiles to take home with you — no experience necessary.

Working with slab and coil techniques, you’ll create a small series of relief tiles inspired by the surface patterns found in nature: bark, leaves, shells, ripples, whatever catches your eye.

We’ll also experiment with turning handwritten notes into relief coiled slab impressions, so your tiles carry a bit of your own hand alongside nature’s.

We'll explore our local area to gather images of textures and surfaces in nature and press, carve, and impress these textures to build relief tiles, alongside learning basic coil and slab hand-building techniques.

Refreshments will be provided, this workshop is for adults aged 18+.

Book your space now, only a few spaces remaining! 🍂 https://ticketlab.co.uk/event/id/39089 #/
