A beautiful, historic building with a refurbished spacious interior in the heart of our community. Duncan Place Community & Enterprise Hub is now open! You have told us you would like art groups, health and fitness, support and advice, educational activities, social events, groups for children and young adults. We will begin working towards bringing these activities to Leith. Duncan Place is a 'profit for purpose' social enterprise with profit being returned to the building for maintenance, improvements, equipment and community events.

We are so excited to finally share the details of our upcoming community cinema programme with you, which will be starting a bit later this year in January 2027. Tickets are now available to buy on Ticketlab. Scroll through for details about each film, and we've included a bit of info on each below!

The Golden Spurtle 🥣 Tuesday 12th January, 7pm
We think you're going to love this film! A favourite among community cinemas and audiences since it's premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in August, this documentary about the community of Carrbridge as they prepare for their annual World Porridge Making Championship is full to the brim with gentle humour and brilliant storytelling. Ot has just come back from attending the Championships in person and was blown away by how well the film captured the excitement and joy of the day. Who knew porridge could be so exciting!

Short Documentaries 🎥 Saturday 13th February, 2pm
For this screening we'll be showing 6 fantastic short documentaries made by new filmmakers on the Scottish Documentary Institute's 2026 Bridging the Gap programme. All 6 films are fantastic and really varied! Your feedback was so brilliant for this event last year, and it was so popular, that we had to do it again this year.

Nae Pasaran! ✈️ Thursday 18th March, 7pm
In the Spring we showed Felipe Bustos Sierra's Everybody to Kenmure Street, which came out this year and was extremely popular. Nae Pasaran! is his previous film, which follows the story of 1974-1978 boycott in an East Kilbride factory, where Rolls-Royce workers refused to work on Chilean warplane engines, grounding half of Pinochet's airforce during his brutal dictatorship. The documentary catches up with some of the workers involved, and they find out the incredible impact of their actions.

Are you interested in getting involved with some gardening? Learning more about edible plants, how to grow them and what you can grow outside in Scotland? Would you just like to get your hands in some soil, or even share your own knowledge of gardening and plants with others?

We are looking for more members for our planter project! Earlier this year, we received some funding from Edinburgh Communities Climate Action Network to buy some lovely planters and plants. Thanks to the hard work of our fabulous community members, we started to transform our previously grey carpark into a beautiful green space with opportunities for us to share gardening skills and knowledge, learn about growing, and get access to much needed time outside.

We've now done all the groundwork and trialled growing lettuce, flowers, herbs, kale and even broccoli in our planters. Looking towards the winter, we're thinking about what plants we can grow through the colder months that are not only edible but bright and colourful as well!

The group meets fortnightly on Wednesdays at 10:30am. We have a cuppa and a chat while we tend to the plants. Often there will be plants to harvest and lots to take home! We're looking for more people to join the group to share ideas, skills, and help with planting, growing and upkeep of our planters. Could it be you? What would you plant in September and October?

Join us for some musical fun this coming Thursday 17th September at our fortnightly Music Circle.

Starting at 7:30pm, this group meets for an hour and ends at 8:30pm.

The cost of the group is £3 *or* £5, which you can pay at reception when you arrive by cash or card, or on Eventbrite - just choose the option which best suits your income. No need to book a space, but we have an Eventbrite page if you'd like to, just go to our link in bio!

We will be using drums, percussion, easy to play melodic instruments and our voices. Come and sing, shake and rattle in a relaxed group for all experience levels!

These sessions are for adults, minimum age 16. All instruments provided!

Duncan Place is fully accessible and the session is held in a ground floor room with low mood lighting. Chairs are arranged in a circle. Carers are always welcome! You can check our Carer’s policy on our website.

We still have a couple of spaces available on our BRAND NEW Qigong class! Led by the fabulous Emma Young, who also teaches our Tai Chi Chuan classes, these classes can be done standing or seated. Qigong can help with balance and relaxation by coordinating the body, breath and mind, through slow, rhythmic movements and deep breathing.

The class costs £6 per session, and runs at 2pm - 2:50pm every Thursday here at Duncan Place. We are looking for community members who can commit to coming regularly - so everyone can learn together!

Do you know a young person (S2 - S6) who enjoys imaginative tabletop games, fantasy role playing games, or magical books? If they’re keen to start playing Dungeons and Dragons with other young people their age, or already play it and are looking for a new group, get in touch!

Our D&D group is facilitated by Ancient Robot games and runs after school every Friday during term time between 3-5.00pm, and costs £2 per session. Starting next week!
