This year, the theme for is 'Building Carer Friendly Communities'🏠💛
Partners in Advocacy is working towards this goal through our new carer collective advocacy group 'ACCESS Edinburgh'
Collective Advocacy Worker Sara shares details of the new group:
"ACCESS Edinburgh is a new collective advocacy group for unpaid carers in Edinburgh accessing or wanting to access social care. Together, we will identify problems and report back to decision and policy makers. This could include issues with housing, day centres, accessing support and even talking to social workers. Systems are confusing at times, and Partners in Advocacy are working towards a future with simpler systems that are built on what is best for carers. Every carer has a voice but sometimes we need to direct the voices towards the right ears to influence change. I am here to listen to what carers have to say and aim to form a safe environment where carers feel heard and understood. Together we can identify common themes unpaid carers face and be the voice that is heard in government. Together, we can influence change!
The first session is on the 15th of June at 14 Links Place, Edinburgh. Please do join us if you wish to talk through any concerns and issues you are facing. You do not need to engage in the group if you do not wish, but rather just come and listen. Whatever way you wish to participate, you are welcome. 🙂"
