Are traditional parenting approaches not working for your family?

Join us for a face-to-face Connective Parenting workshop in East Lothian, designed to support adoptive parents and carers in building stronger, more connected relationships with their children.

Grounded in the principles of Non-Violent Resistance, this practical workshop explores why some traditional parenting approaches may not feel effective for every family. You’ll gain supportive strategies to help you respond to challenging behaviour — including child-to-parent violence — while strengthening trust, connection and understanding at home.

Over two sessions in September, we'll explore:

• How strong connection can support your child’s emotional wellbeing — and how to keep nurturing it.
• The core principles of the Non-Violent Resistance approach.
• Practical strategies for responding to challenging behaviour with confidence and care.
• Ways to manage difficult moments while nurturing positive family relationships.

The course is aimed at adoptive parents, and is also suitable for prospective adopters and foster or kinship carers.

📍 Location: Penston House, Macmerry, East Lothian
📅 Date & time: Thursday 3 and Thursday 24 September, 10:30am-1:30pm each day

We are busy planning for September - FASD Month 2026!

Our theme this year is all about education and lived experience. As part of our social media campaign we would love to share our children and young people's thoughts about school and education.

Over the next few weeks we'll be sharing questions on this page for parents and carers to ask their young people.

Our third question is "What’s one thing school could change to make things better for people with FASD?"

It's easy to let us know the answer too - just click this form and type in your answer: https://ow.ly/Fzhh50ZmNUu (Remember to click submit!)

There are no right or wrong answers. We're excited to see what the answers will be - look out for your child's answers on our social media channels during September.

Ready to bounce your way around a 5K and raise money for a great cause?

Join the Project for a fun-filled fundraising challenge at the Inflatable 5K!

📍 Strathclyde Country Park, Motherwell, Lanarkshire
📅 Saturday, 29 August
⏰ Meet at 11:30am (our start time is 12:00pm)

We'll be running, jogging, walking – and bouncing! – our way around a 5K course packed with giant inflatable obstacles, all while raising money to support the Project.

The Project has covered the cost of places for young people taking part. In return, we'd love for participants to raise sponsorship to help us support more adopted and care-experienced young people connect, gain confidence and learn new skills.

Parents and carers are welcome to stay and cheer everyone on – it's free to spectate. If you'd like to join in the fun and take on the course too, simply book your own adult place directly with the event organisers.

Come along for a brilliant day of fun, laughter and fundraising. We can't wait to see you there! 💜
