The East Lothian Champions Board gives care experienced young people the opportunity to talk directly to local authority staff, elected members and service providers to ensure that decisions which affect their lives are informed by their own experiences.

Through the board, care experienced young people can influence improvements in the services and support available to them.

Our events programme for Summer 2026 is now live!
If you’re looking for ways to keep your children entertained this summer, why not start with a day trip to Wiston Lodge in South Lanarkshire for some fantastic outdoors activities?

Alternately, join us at Willowgate Adventure Centre in Perth to enjoy a day by the water while young people take part in a range of exciting activities? This year we’re offering half-day tickets for the first time, giving you the opportunity to enjoy three hours at the centre for a reduced price.

We’re also hosting picnics and barbecues for adoptive families at Balloch Castle, Strathaven Park, Rouken Glen Park and Vogrie Country Park during July and August. These events are free to all adoptive families, but we would ask that you book so we know how many people to expect.

To find out more about these events and book tickets, simply visit our Summer Events page on Eventbrite: https://ow.ly/a9V650Z4bx8

A huge thank you to our incredible Edinburgh Marathon runners! 🏅💙

Last weekend, two amazing supporters took on the full Edinburgh Marathon and another completed the Half Marathon to raise money for Adoption UK Scotland. Together, they raised an incredible £1,600 to support our work with adoptive families and adopted people across Scotland.

We’re so grateful for their dedication, determination and generosity.

One of our runners, Colin, shared:

"As someone who has used Adoption UK since adopting both my children, we’ve managed to have fun days out giving them the opportunity to flourish and feel part of something special alongside other children who’ve shared similar trauma and experiences of the care system. I pictured them both the entire way through my race and it got me through it with no issues.

"My finish time was 2:13, which was two minutes less than my goal so I’m extremely happy and the donations from friends and family gave me the boost I needed to try something different and take part in my fitness journey to get where I am today."

Thank you again to all our runners and everyone who donated and cheered them on – your support makes a real difference.

Supporting a child through loss, grief, and family change can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate it alone.

This three-session online programme for kinship carers, adoptive parents and foster carers in Scotland will help you better understand your child’s experiences and feelings around:

• loss and separation
• bereavement and illness
• moving between families
• adoption, fostering and kinship care

We'll explore how children may react to change, ways to support them, communication strategies, and the importance of caring for yourself too.

Mondays 8, 15 & 22 June, 9.30am – 11.30am. Book through Eventbrite: https://ow.ly/ETir50Z14Q6

We're delighted to announce that Adoption UK Scotland's Project has been nominated in the Community Organisation category of this year's National Diversity Awards.

Since its launch in 2021, the Project has supported young people aged 5–26 through creative, peer-led and trauma-informed programmes designed around developmental needs, ensuring every participant feels seen, valued and understood.

Through mentoring, employability support, creative workshops, peer groups and the young-person-led Zone Magazine, participants are encouraged to build confidence, develop life skills and celebrate their identities with pride.

The National Diversity Awards are decided by public vote — you can support the Project by casting your vote on their website: https://ow.ly/EMja50YYOLC
