SACS Adoption - St Andrew's Children's Society is delighted to announce that it has become a proud signatory to the Scottish LGBTI+ Rainbow Mark. It is the first adoption and fostering agency in Scotland to make the commitment to the LGBTI+ community.

The Scottish LGBTI+ Rainbow Mark is an initiative to promote visibility and inclusion for le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI+) people across Scotland.

Five organisations collaborated on the initiative: Dumfries and Galloway LGBT Plus
; Equality Network ; Four Pillars ; Highland Pride and Somewhere: For Us .

The Rainbow Mark is built on 5 principles, created in consultation with LGBTI+ people in Scotland:
1. Increase positive LGBTI+ visibility
2. Provide information and tools to enable better LGBTI inclusion
3. Reduce isolation and minority stress for LGBTI+ people
4. Create more welcoming places in Scotland
5. Reflect a genuine desire to recognise and respect LGBTI+ diversity and inclusion across Scotland

St Andrew’s Children’s Society have worked hard in the past to make the LGBTI+ community feel welcome and we are very pleased to display the Rainbow Mark in the entrance to both of their offices to let LBGTI+ people know that they are welcome and entering an inclusive space.

We are a longstanding member of New Family Social as well as Somewhere, one of the organisations that collaborated on the Rainbow Mark. The first family to be approved as adopters through our Aberdeen office after it opened in 2013 were a same-sex male couple.

We are grateful to Thomas Anderson, who adopted as a single gay man through the Edinburgh office in 2018 for this lovely feedback: “St Andrew’s Children’s Society are the reason I am a dad today. Without them I would not have my son and the life we have had together. They held my hand through the entire process and beyond. I knew I made the right choice with them as soon as I walked through their doors and will continue to advocate for them as the hard work and dedication they provide to creating forever families should be recognised.”

We help people to adopt and foster who live within 60 miles of Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Elgin.

How amazing is this?!

William, who was adopted through SACS Adoption - St Andrew's Children's Society, and his friend Mollie, are going to hitchhike all the way from Edinburgh to Berlin to raise money for us! We're so impressed and very grateful.

But there's a twist! They will have to make their way to Berlin without spending a penny of their own money, taking a flight or travelling more than 100 miles on transport paid for with money raised along the way. Oh, and they only have 84 hours to get to Berlin! 🇩🇪

Today marks the start of ADHD Awareness Month. During the whole of October the focus is on raising global awareness, reducing stigma, and sharing evidence‑based information about ADHD.

ADHD UK is a useful site if you would like to find out more about ADHD, covering areas such as work, education and support available.

We're here to help people with ADHD Thrive. Positively changing what it means to have ADHD in the UK if not the world.

Stephen Small, our wonderful CEO, has decided to retire at the end of November 2026 after 33 years with SACS Adoption - St Andrew's Children's Society. We will all miss him. Stephen has helped countless adoptive and foster care families since he started working here in 1993 and before he goes he'd like to help our families well into the future by doing a charity skydive on Saturday, 24 October 2026 🪂

Massive round of applause for Connor Newman who completed the Loch Ness Marathon in under 3 hours and 45 minutes yesterday. That is FAST!

We are impressed by all the New best of all-time mentions on his race log. 🏃
