We recently attended an event at a Langlees Primary School in Falkirk to celebrate the delivery of 88 bikes, 88 helmets and four storage containers across four local primary schools.

Falkirk Council bought the bikes using our People and Place Access to Bikes and Cycle Storage fund.

The bikes will have a huge impact on the children at the four schools by allowing every child to take part in Bikeability training.

From the smiles on the children's faces, it was clear to see that they are enjoying having the fleet of bikes available to them. And the schools are already reporting that many of the children are putting their new found skills to good use and using their own bikes to travel around more. 👏

🌍 Today is World Environment Day. 🌍

Through our People and Place programme, we are supporting projects across our region to help more people choose active travel.

One of these is Bridgend Farmhouse. Their work helps more people access cycling, whether it is building skills, trying out bikes, or just having the opportunity to travel differently. And, these are the things that can make a huge difference, helping people move some journeys from car to cycle.

Climate action isn't just about large-scale change. It's also about supporting people to choose to travel differently, one journey at a time.

Can you swap a car journey to one made by active or sustainable travel?

🚲 Happy World Bicycle Day!

Today we are celebrating the simple power of getting on a bike. For many, cycling is part of the daily commute. For others, it is a way to clear our head, stay active and enjoy the places we live and work.

At SEStran, we know that making cycling easier and safer is key to creating a transport network that works for everyone. More cycling means healthier people, cleaner air and better connected communities.

Here are a few pictures of some of our team out on two wheels.

Today marks the start of National Walking Month and it’s a great time to celebrate walking as one of the simplest and most inclusive forms of active travel. 🚶‍♀️‍➡️

Walking helps keep us active, supports mental wellbeing, and cuts emissions. It can be built into everyday journeys like getting to work, education, shops or public transport, making it an free and easy choice for many people. It also helps create healthier places, quieter streets and more connected communities.

Whether it’s a short everyday trip or part of a longer journey, every step counts! 👣

This Earth Day, we’re sharing a case study from one of our People and Place funded projects – SHRUB Coop’s Wee Spoke Hub.

Through their wheelchair and cycle hub they’re supporting people to repair and reuse bikes, share skills and build confidence. This is making active travel a more achievable option for their local community, and they’re seeing fantastic results!
