The session brings together senior voices from Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland to share how each nation is meeting the housing needs and aspirations of an ageing population.

On 1 August, new housing legislation came into effect, introducing changes that aim to strengthen residents’ rights and support safer, more inclusive homes.

For Hanover residents, the updates include changes to tenancy rights, how requests to keep pets are considered, and the support available for people affected by domestic abuse. Rent increase notices may also now be sent by email where residents have chosen to receive communication this way.

These changes reflect Hanover’s continued commitment to providing safe, secure and inclusive homes.

We’re sharing the news that our Chief Executive, Angela Currie, will retire on 31 March 2027.

Since joining Hanover in January 2021, Angela has helped guide the organisation through an important period of change, investment and continued focus on supporting older people across Scotland.

Under Angela’s leadership, Hanover has continued to strengthen its homes, services and support for tenants and customers, while championing the importance of housing that helps people live safely, independently and well in later life.

The Board will begin the process of recruiting Angela’s successor shortly, with plans in place to support a smooth transition in spring 2027.

We would like to thank Angela for her leadership, dedication and contribution to Hanover, and wish her all the very best as she prepares for her next chapter.

We're honoured to be recognised alongside so many organisations and individuals making a positive difference for tenants and communities.

Congratulations to everyone shortlisted, and thank you to the Chartered Institute of Housing, the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations and ALACHO for celebrating the achievements of Scotland's housing sector.
