Vintage Vibes Edinburgh Vintage Vibes is a fresh way of tackling social isolation and loneliness among Edinburgh's over-60s, using friendly volunteers to offer companionship.

In Edinburgh, there are many over-60s who feel lonely or isolated. One study found that older people in Edinburgh are the loneliest in the UK. Research shows that chronic loneliness increases the chances of developing dementia by 64 percent and can be as damaging to health as smoking 15 ci******es a day. Vintage Vibes is tackling those statistics head on by offering a new service that's reaching o

ut to people across the city. Using friendly volunteers we're reaching out to over-60s - our Vibes VIPs - offering companionship, reliable support and the opportunity to be more socially connected. We offer a range of services, including 1:1 visiting both in and out of the home, pet visiting, hospital visiting, friendship pools and family visiting.

🎭✨ Vintage Vibes at the Fringe!

Our VIPs love getting out, trying new things and experiencing everything Edinburgh has to offer! And this was just one of the many Fringe day outs we have planned in collaboration with .

We had an incredible time watching Come From Away, with absolutely incredible performances, plenty of humour, emotion and energy throughout the show. We loved every minute!

We even got the chance to meet and chat with some of the amazing actors afterwards, making the experience even more special.

☕️ Coffee, good company, great entertainment and lots of Fringe magic! Another brilliant day out with Vintage Vibes! ✨

VIP empowerment in action!

This year some of our Gorgie Coffee catchup group faced a new challenge, the road they got their bus on to go to the Wednesday group at Saltyard Cafe was closed for months due to underground works.

For a while they arranged to share taxis, but this was prohibitively expensive for them as taxis had to take the long route due to the road closures. This meant that they members were starting to not attend the group and miss out on the regular social connection that was a lifeline to many.

But VIP Diana, one of our longest standing members, and the other coffee catchup group members didn’t let these new circumstances phase them. They campaigned to local MP Dr Scott Arthur and together approached Scottish Water, who awarded the group £500 to cover the cost of taxis while the roads stay closed. Hurrah!

We are so proud to have been able to support our amazing VIPs in their campaigning, and delighted to see them all at our regular coffee catchup. Go Gorgie Group! 👏👏👏
