Mélanie's Way

Mélanie's Way We help young women with metastatic cancer. We create a personalized experience, a "wish", that brings them and their loved ones joy and creates memories.

In honour of Mélanie’s inspirational spirit, we have started Mélanie’s Way, an initiative which extends the definition of serving young women with metastatic or relapsed cancer beyond the medical arena – to focus on maximizing joy and creating customized experiences and shared memories with their loved ones. We help women to follow Mélanie’s Way by granting personalized ‘wishes’ that will create unique, joyful experiences for these women to share with those they will leave behind

Shannon's wish part 2: Hobbiton, Māori Culture & Memories 🌿✨

Shannon’s New Zealand adventure continued with unforgettable experiences — from visiting Hobbiton and exploring Rotorua to experiencing Māori culture and food at the Mitai Māori Village. Her trip to the Weta Workshop tour was a ton of fun with plenty of “very dad humor” jokes from the guide 😄

Between the stunning scenery, nonstop laughter, and quirky adventures along the way, the New Zealand trip was everything she had hoped for. What made it even more special was experiencing all of these magical moments and incredible new experiences with her long-time pen pal! 💙

Thank you, Shannon, for sharing your journey with us.

💫 Help Us Grant More Wishes
💝 Donate today: melaniesway.com/donate

At Mélanie’s Way, we grant wishes for young women living with metastatic or relapsed cancer — creating moments of joy, connection, and memory-making with the people they love most.

Over the past decade, we’ve had the privilege of granting wishes to almost 90 women: family vacations, reunions with loved ones, meaningful celebrations, bucket-list adventures, and simple moments that mean everything.

As more applications continue to come in, community support is what allows us to keep saying “yes” to these women and their families when it matters most. This year, we hope to reach — and surpass — our goal of helping more than 100 women and their families create meaningful memories together. 💙

If you’ve ever thought about supporting Mélanie’s Way, now is a wonderful time to help us continue granting wishes and creating lasting memories. Every donation — big or small — truly makes a difference.

Kelly’s Dream Family Getaway 🌊💙
(Part 2: The Stay🌴💦✨)

From the moment they arrived, the excitement never slowed down.

“I wish I had a GoPro on my head,” Kelly said. “Every time we turned a corner and the kids saw something new, they were screaming and running — just so happy.”

From water slides and beach days to meeting SpongeBob and even a full family “sliming,” every day was packed with fun. But what stood out most wasn’t just the activities — it was the time together.

No schedules. No stress. Just being present.

“There was no ‘put your phone down’… we were just in it the whole time.”

Even leaving was hard — one of the kids had a full meltdown because he didn’t want to go home.

Looking back, Kelly shared it best:
“It filled up my bucket and memories in more ways than I thought it was going to.”

Thank you, Kelly, for sharing your beautiful family and your story with us. 💙

The Start of Her Dream Trip (Kelly's Wish Part 1)

This is the moment everything became real.

When Kelly told her kids they were going on their wish trip, the excitement was instant — questions, smiles, and that growing realization that this was actually happening.

That night, no one thought they’d sleep… but instead, “I’ve never seen them run to bed faster,” Kelly shared. “They were so excited just to wake up in the morning.”

By 4am, they were already dressed and ready to go — wide awake, full of energy, and counting down the minutes until takeoff.

Soon, Kelly, her husband, and their five kids were on their way to Punta Cana for a week at the Nickelodeon Resort — a trip filled with sunshine, water slides, and nonstop family fun.

And it all started with this moment. 💫
