The idea of creating Joanne’s Pride & Passion Award started with one person.

Before Joanne’s passing, we had talked about finding a special way to honour someone who had given so much to the Canadian Cancer Society and to Trucking for a Cure. When Joanne passed, that idea didn’t fade it grew.

It grew into something bigger. An award created to honour the incredible drivers in our industry who show unwavering pride, passion, heart and dedication, while carrying forward the legacy Joanne built.

And so, to the driver who planted the seed for this award… the driver who has shown more pride and passion than words could ever express… the driver Joanne adored, stood beside, and fought alongside:

You have been a part of this fight, a part of this community, and a part of Joanne’s journey for so many years.

There have been a lot of whispers surrounding the future of Big Rig Nationals, and today we’re excited to share a little bit of news.

The new owners and management team at St. Thomas Dragway have briefly connected with Jia and expressed their interest in sitting down for longer conversations about continuing Joanne’s Pride & Joy a.k.a. Big Rig Truck Nationals!

While there are still conversations to be had and details to work out, we couldn’t be more honoured that there is genuine interest in keeping Joanne’s legacy alive and continuing what she poured so much love, passion and pride into.

We promise to keep everyone updated as we receive more information and as these conversations continue.

For now, we want to send our sincerest appreciation and gratitude to the entire team behind the new and improved St. Thomas Dragway for recognizing the importance of this event and for showing their support in keeping, rebuilding and carrying forward Joanne’s legacy.

Her pride.

And thank you for staying MUCH later than you had originally anticipated to make sure as many people as possible could get tattooed and contribute to this incredible cause. You are an absolute LEGEND!

Some people capture the moment… and some people become part of it.

The dancing, singing photographer who stands where most people would never dare. Fearless doesn’t even begin to describe her.

We had the privilege of spending some time with Noël this weekend, and what stood out wasn’t just her incredible talent behind the camera it was her heart. Her optimism, kindness, and her light are absolutely contagious.

For women everywhere, Noël is the kind of person who reminds us that true beauty comes from strength, compassion, and the courage to shine unapologetically. She is the blueprint of what so many of us aspire to be beautiful inside and out.

It was an absolute honour to share this weekend with you. Thank you for being exactly who you are: strong, fearless, authentic, and a light in the darkest places.

Before presenting the first ever Pride & Passion Award, we asked ourselves one simple question: Who truly embodies everything Joanne stood for?

The answer was easy.

This award isn’t just about having a beautiful truck. It’s about having a beautiful heart. It’s about the people who lift this industry up, who give without expecting anything in return, and who remind us what this trucking family is really all about.

This weekend, Jia and Hayley had the honour of presenting the first Pride & Passion Award to a man who lives those values every single day.

His career calls him to be there when drivers need him most, but what makes him truly special is that his kindness doesn’t end when the job does. Whether it’s lending a hand, offering support, or simply showing up when someone needs him, he does it with humility, compassion, and a genuine love for this community.

Nick Kirkham, it is our absolute honour to present you with the very first Pride & Passion Award.

Thank you for being the kind of person who makes this industry stronger, kinder, and more united. We can’t think of a more deserving recipient to carry on the legacy of Joanne’s unwavering pride, passion, and love for the trucking community.
