On July 5, 1975, Canadian Pacific FP7A diesel locomotive No. 4062, the third unit pulling a westbound freight train, caught fire at mile 78.5 White River Subdivision, about two miles (3.2 km) east of Franz, ON. The crew uncoupled the locomotive to protect the rest of the train.

A Ministry of Natural Resources forest fire suppression crew was dispatched from Wawa to the scene to prevent the fire from spreading to the adjacent forest. No. 4062 was subsequently scrapped at Chapleau, ON. Its nose was taken to the CP Angus Shops in Montreal and used to repair FP9A No. 1409, which had been damaged that same year in a level crossing collision.

In Loving Memory of James Cluderay

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Cluderay, a cherished member of the Community Living Oakville family. James passed away on the morning of February 5, 2025, at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. James had a lifelong passion for trains and could spend hours talking about locomotives. As a dedicated member of the model railway club, he found joy in sharing his enthusiasm with fellow train lovers and immersing himself in all things locomotive. His knowledge and love for trains were unmatched, and he never missed an opportunity to chat about his favorite topic.

Beyond his passion for trains, James took great pride in his career at Sobeys, where he worked for over 20 years before retiring. He was a dedicated and hardworking employee, forming lasting friendships with his coworkers and taking pride in his role. His warm personality and strong work ethic left a lasting impression.

James was also an active and caring member of his community. He volunteered with the Food for Life program, regularly helped his neighbors, and was always eager to lend a hand. With his friendly and outgoing nature, James made connections wherever he went, brightening the lives of those around him. James shared a deep and loving bond with his long-term girlfriend, Bonnie, spending every day together as each other’s greatest support and source of joy. In addition to his many interests, James was incredibly proud of his participation in Special Olympics bowling. He competed in numerous tournaments over the years and found great joy in the sport. His dedication and sportsmanship made him a valued member of the team. James will be deeply missed by his family, friends, support staff, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his kindness, enthusiasm, and love for trains continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
