📣 Bar Kuperstein Joins Negev 2026

The Nova Festival survivor and former hostage will share his story of survival, faith and hope on November 1.

While working as head of security at the Nova Music Festival, Bar was taken captive on October 7, 2023. Through an unimaginable experience, he held on to his faith, emerging with a deep sense of purpose and commitment to resilience, unity and hope.

Bar joins an evening that will also feature a fireside conversation with Elisha Wiesel and Ben Mulroney.

Join us for an evening of powerful stories, remembrance, and hope – while helping support Beit Nova, a dedicated space where Nova survivors and bereaved families can access therapy, support and healing.

🇮🇱 Another Israeli story. Another reminder of what courage looks like.
When everything seemed lost, they acted.
A plane carrying many Israelis. Suspicious sounds from the cockpit.
While many might have panicked, passengers took action. They forced open the cockpit door. A doctor rushed to help the injured captain. The co-pilot was restrained. Then a passenger revealed he was a pilot and took control.
Despite a damaged wing and complete chaos, the plane landed safely.
This is the Israeli spirit: courage, calm under pressure, responsibility for one another, and refusing to stand by when others are in danger.
Ordinary people stepping up.
A doctor saving a life.
A pilot saving a plane.

We reflect on the importance of truth, healing, and listening — and on the work of building understanding within and between our communities.

As a Jewish organization, we know something of what it means to carry memory across generations, and of how much it matters when others choose to remember alongside us.

Sukkot begins this evening. 🌿

Sukkot, also known as the Feast of Tabernacles, is a season of reflection, gratitude and community. We build and decorate a sukkah, a temporary outdoor shelter that recalls our ancestors' journey and reminds us how much stronger we are when we build together.

That meaning lands differently this year. Across Israel, communities are still rebuilding, still gathering, still choosing to celebrate. Their resilience is the truest expression of this season.

It's also a holiday of welcome, of opening our doors and making room for others at the table. May this Sukkot bring you closer to the people you love, and remind us all of the strength we find in one another.

From all of us at Friends of JNF Canada, we wish you a Chag Sukkot Sameach and Shabbat Shalom.
