Still smiling from this weekend! 😁🌈

Some of our SCIC team had the absolute joy of walking the Queen City Pride Parade this Saturday and wow – Regina really showed up with all the colour, care, and love in the world!

We loved walking alongside our community, cheering with strangers who felt like friends, and running into so many wonderful friends of SCIC along the way.

Those little “hey, we know you!” moments? The best!

Pride is a celebration, yes – but it is also a reminder. Equality, dignity, safety, and belonging should never be up for debate. Everyone deserves to move through the world fully, freely, and proudly as themselves.

Thank you to Queen City Pride for creating such a beautiful space for community, visibility, and joy. Our hearts are very, very full! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Happy World Environment Day 🌎

The Earth is sending us signals. How we choose to respond matters.

This year’s focuses on climate change and calls on all of us to step in – to act with care, urgency, and hope for the future we share.

Here in Saskatchewan, the environment is part of who we are: our prairie skies, rivers, forests, farms, food systems, and communities. At SCIC, we are proud to work alongside Saskatchewan partners who care deeply for our planet and take action every day through education, advocacy, sustainability, and community-led change.

This World Environment Day, we invite you to join the movement in simple but meaningful ways:

🌱 Learn about the environmental issues affecting your community and how they connect to global challenges.
♻️Take action in your community by reducing waste, planting native species, joining a clean-up, or supporting sustainable choices.
🤝 Support Sask organizations and community groups working toward climate justice, food security, conservation, and a healthier future for all.

A healthier planet begins with all of us – learning together, acting together, and choosing care for the Earth we share 💚

On Friday two members of the SCIC team traveled to Watrous to attend RCE Saskatchewan's Education for Sustainable Development Awards in Watrous. This year SCIC had the honour of receiving three awards recognizing our commitment to sustainability, global citizenship, community engagement, and lifelong learning across Saskatchewan!

This year, SCIC was recognized for:

🏆 Youth Programming Award – Creative Pathways to Sustainable Communities

A youth-focused initiative that supports young people in exploring global issues, reflecting on their lived experiences, and using visual storytelling and symbolic artwork to share messages of care, responsibility, and collective action.

🏆 Education Programming Award – Global Citizenship Education Workshops

Free K-12 classroom workshops offered across Saskatchewan, helping students explore global issues, the UN SDGs, and their role as active global citizens.

🏆 Education Programming Award – Reading Circle for Saskatchewan Educators

A free professional development opportunity that brings educators together through books, resources, and meaningful conversations on global citizenship, sustainability, and the SDGs.

Thank you to RCE Saskatchewan for this recognition and for their continued leadership in advancing Education for Sustainable Development 👏

As part of a longstanding relationship, we were honoured to partner with RCE for their awards ceremony this year. These awards are a meaningful reminder of the collaboration, care, and shared commitment behind our programs and they inspire us to keep supporting Saskatchewan youth, educators, and communities in building a more sustainable future. 🌍

Story of Change - Krista Caspick-Roblin 🌱

What if one single opportunity could help you find your voice again and reignite your spark?

For Krista, youth boot camp became more than a leadership experience. It became a turning point.

After moving through loss, change, COVID, and becoming a new parent, Krista shared that she had lost a part of herself and stopped seeing her voice as something important.

GenMo helped change that.

Through connection, reflection, and meaningful conversations, Krista was reminded how truly valuable her voice is, and that she was still capable of creating change in her community and beyond!

Since then, Krista has carried that spark forward, advocating on Parliament Hill, speaking internationally on policies close to her heart, reconnecting with her Métis roots, and now working with VIDEA in support of global justice, gender equality, youth leadership, and international cooperation.

🌍 Today is World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.

Culture is more than food, music, language, clothing, or tradition.

It is memory.
It is belonging.
It is the way communities carry wisdom, tell their stories, care for one another, and imagine a better future.

In a world too often divided by fear, conflict, inequality, and misunderstanding, cultural diversity reminds us that difference is not something to overcome. It is something to learn from and celebrate.

Dialogue begins when we listen with humility. Development becomes stronger when communities are not spoken over, but heard. Peace becomes possible when we recognize the dignity, knowledge, and lived experience that every culture brings to our shared world.

We believe global cooperation starts here: through mutual learning, partnership, solidarity, and respect for the many voices that shape Saskatchewan and the world beyond it.

Today, we celebrate the cultures, stories, languages, and communities that make our world more connected and more alive 💛

🕊️ May 16 | International Day of Living Together in Peace

“It isn’t enough to talk about peace. One must believe in it. And it isn’t enough to believe in it. One must work at it.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

On this day, we’re reminded that living in peace means embracing our differences, listening with openness, and creating space for understanding across cultures, communities, and perspectives. It’s about showing up with empathy, even when it’s difficult.

At SCIC, we see this in action across Saskatchewan through conversations, partnerships, and everyday effort to build a more just and inclusive world. Peace starts locally, but its impact is global.

Today is a reminder that peace doesn’t just happen.
We create it together, in the actions we take and the communities we build 🩵
