Saskatchewan Trails Association

Saskatchewan Trails Association Welcome to Saskatchewan Trails Association's page. This site will provide regular updates tr The creation of the Association was facilitated by S.P.R.A.

The Saskatchewan Trails Association (STA) was officially incorporated in July 2004 with the mandate to promote the development and use of recreational trails throughout Saskatchewan. and wholeheartedly supported by the Trans Canada Trail Foundation. The Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association (S.P.R.A.) concluded its administration of the Trans Canada Trail in Saskatchewan on June 30, 2004.

Preceding that, an extended but enthusiastic process led stakeholders across the province to work on the development of a new provincial organization that would lead the Trans Canada Trail and other trail development across the province. Since its inception, the Saskatchewan Trails Association has been hard at work, developing its website, creating insurance policies for member trail associations, and actively promoting the STA’s membership. Most recently, it completed the province's first ever strategic planning document for Saskatchewan trails. Simultaneously, the Trans Canada Trail movement across the province keeps growing. Throughout the province, trails have been developed, bridges have been converted to trails, plaques have been unveiled and pavilions have been established. The STA strives to keep people informed of Saskatchewan Trans Canada Trail development. Read the latest news in Tales from the Trails. The STA would be glad to hear from you if you have any concerns, questions or news about the Trans Canada Trail, or other trails in Saskatchewan. Learn how to contact us. The Saskatchewan Trails Association board members would like to thank S.P.R.A. for their support in the creation and development of the STA. We would also like to thank S.P.R.A. Recreation Consultant, John Firnesz, who has been exhaustively involved with the establishment of the STA. His dedication is commendable and we truly appreciate his efforts.

📸 Quick question, Saskatchewan...

How many trail photos are currently sitting in your camera roll?

5? 50? 500?

Our annual photo contest opens June 7, and some of those photos deserve to be seen.

Save this reminder and keep an eye on our page for contest details this Saturday.

friendly reminder from SaskTrails:

your notifications can wait 🌾

if your brain has too many tabs open lately, maybe it’s time to swap the doomscrolling for a dirt path, lake view, or trail walk instead.

close some tabs. open a trail.

I went looking for a walking trail and accidentally found a turtle convention. 🐢

The Wascana Habitat Conservation Area feels a world away from city traffic, even though it’s right here in Regina. Boardwalks, wetlands, wildlife, and plenty of reasons to slow down for an hour.

I shared my favourite moments (including the turtles) in this week’s blog post.

A cigarette butt tucked beside a bench. A v**e cap near a trailhead. A plastic mouthpiece dropped after a walk. Tiny pieces, big negative impact.

On World No To***co Day, we’re looking at the Trail through a smaller lens because sustainability isn’t only about forests, bridges and long-distance connections. It’s also about what gets left behind in the gravel, the grass, the snowmelt and the waterways.

Pack it out. Pick it up when you can. Protect the Trail for the next person and the next season.
