What an incredible weekend! The Weyburn Fire School was truly one for the books! 🚒👏

A huge THANK YOU to the Weyburn Fire Department for hosting such an amazing fire school and helping make this weekend such a success. Your hard work, dedication, and hospitality did not go unnoticed, and we are so grateful for everything you put into making this event happen!

We also want to thank every student and instructor who joined us from across Saskatchewan. With approximately 300 firefighters between students and instructors, it was incredible to see so many people come together with one common goal: to learn, grow, and become better firefighters for the communities they serve. ❤️‍🔥

Fire school is about more than just training. It’s about sharing knowledge, building relationships, learning from one another, and strengthening our fire service across the province. Every new skill learned and every experience shared helps us better protect the communities that depend on us.

To all the students who gave up their weekend to train, challenge themselves, and improve their skill sets — thank you! Your commitment to your departments and communities is what makes our fire service stronger.

And to Weyburn — you knocked it out of the park! 🙌

🚒🔥 SVFFA FIRE SCHOOL IS UNDERWAY IN WEYBURN! 🔥🚒

We’re officially kicking off another great day of learning, training, and strengthening our fire service community! 💪

Today, our firefighters are in for a full day of hands-on training and skill development, building knowledge and experience they can take back to their home departments and communities.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make this training opportunity possible, and to all the firefighters taking time out of their busy schedules to learn, grow, and serve! 👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

🔥 **It’s Fire Prevention Week! October 4–10, 2026** 🔥

This year’s theme, Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower,puts the spotlight on lithium-ion battery safety.

From phones and laptops to power tools, e-bikes and scooters, these batteries power our everyday lives. The Alberta Fire Chiefs Association encourages everyone to take simple steps to help prevent battery fires:

🔌 Use the charger supplied with your device or one approved by the manufacturer.
✅ Choose products certified by a recognized testing organization.
📱 Charge on a hard, flat surface, away from bedding and other materials that can burn.
🚪 Keep charging devices away from doors, stairs and escape routes.
⚠️ Stop using batteries that show signs of damage, swelling, unusual heat or odour.
♻️ Take used batteries to an approved collection location—never put them in household garbage or regular recycling.
Safe charging habits help protect your home, your family and your community.

Today, the SVFFA recognizes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

This day provides an opportunity to listen, learn and reflect, while strengthening relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples and communities.

Fire services are built on trust, service and strong community relationships. As fire service leaders, we recognize the importance of continuing to build meaningful connections with First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities throughout Saskatchewan and across Canada.

Reconciliation is an ongoing journey. It is strengthened through listening, understanding, mutual respect and a willingness to learn from one another.

Today, we encourage our members and the fire service community to take time to reflect on how each of us can contribute to stronger relationships, greater understanding and a positive path forward together.

We’re looking for some help in the Weyburn area!

As part of our upcoming Livestock Rescue training during the Fall Fire School, we are looking to borrow a few sheep and/or goats to assist with hands-on training exercises.

This morning, we were honoured to attend the official unveiling and dedication of the protective services memorial monument located on memorial way on the legislative grounds. A very moving ceremony was held with dignitaries including the Lieutenant Governor, families of the fallen and active emergency service members from across the province. This is the culmination of years of hard work by many to make this monument a reality. A rousing tribute to those who never came home from protecting others. We will remember them. Our thanks to Past President Louis Cherpin for his hard work representing the SVFFA on the organizing committee!

🚒 FALL FIRE SCHOOL COURSE SPOTLIGHT: RIT 🚒

Ready to sharpen your skills and strengthen your crew’s ability to respond when things go wrong?

Our Fall Fire School will be offering RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) training! 🔥🧯

This course focuses on the skills and knowledge needed to operate as part of a Rapid Intervention Team and be prepared to respond when a firefighter becomes lost, trapped, injured, or otherwise requires assistance.
