SEPTEMBER 7 — TRC CALL TO ACTION #5 | INDIGENOUS CHILD & FAMILY SERVICES

Call to Action #5 calls upon governments to develop culturally appropriate Indigenous child and family services.

Culture matters.

The Circle Project’s childcare programs provide culturally based care where children experience Indigenous imagery, music, language and activities rooted in an Indigenous worldview.

Our children deserve environments where culture isn't something they have to leave at the door.

TRC CALL TO ACTION #3 | PREVENTION & FAMILY SUPPORT

Call to Action #3 calls for implementing preventative measures and providing resources to Indigenous families so children are not unnecessarily removed from their homes.
At The Circle Project, prevention is part of the work.

From community outreach and family violence programming to childcare, housing support and community-based services, we work alongside individuals and families before challenges become even greater barriers.

🧡 Reconciliation is also about building the supports that help families stay strong.

TRC CALL TO ACTION #2 | KNOWING THE NUMBERS

Call to Action #2 calls for annual reporting on the number of Indigenous children in care and comparisons with non-Indigenous children.

Why does this matter?

Because data tells a story about where systems are working and where they are failing Indigenous children and families.

At The Circle Project, we believe programs must respond to what individuals and families actually tell us they need. Our wraparound approach connects people with multiple programs and services while helping reduce barriers to independence and sustainability.

Reconciliation requires listening, measuring progress and being willing to change what isn't working.

TRC CALL TO ACTION #1 | KEEPING FAMILIES TOGETHER

The TRC’s Call to Action #1 calls for reducing the number of Indigenous children in care and providing adequate resources so Indigenous families can stay together safely and children can remain in culturally appropriate environments.

At The Circle Project, supporting parents and their children means supporting the whole family.

Through our Children’s Centre, Infant & Toddler Centre, family-focused programs, outreach and other wraparound services, we work to create safe, supportive and culturally grounded environments where children and families can thrive.

Reconciliation means recognizing that strong children need strong families, strong communities and culturally safe spaces.
