NEW RULE UPDATE 🚨
Section XIII Ride

Canadian Cowboys Association would like to make contestants aware of a new rule regarding ride and timed event scheduling:

Section XIII Ride – Rule #17

When timed event and riding event contestants are entered on the same entry and the RIDE system cannot place the group based on priority, the riding event and/or timed event entries may be split between a performance and a slack. In these situations, both the performance and slack will take place on the same day.

What this means:
If scheduling conflicts arise and the system cannot accommodate all events together, contestants may find some of their events scheduled in a performance and others in a slack. However all affected events will still be completed on the same day.

Please keep this in mind when making your entries and planning your rodeo schedule.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

The road was busy but C**t Van Straten made sure the results spoke for themselves.

This week’s Athlete of the Week put together an impressive two rodeo run, collecting cheques in multiple events and continuing to climb the CCA standings.

Van Straten kicked things off at Unity Western Days, where he made quick work of the Tie Down Roping with a lightning fast 8.0 second run. The victory added $1,331.10 to his 2026 CCA earnings and showcased the consistency and determination that have become trademarks of his season thus far.

He then headed down the road to the 33rd Annual Kindersley Rodeo where he stayed hot against another tough field of competitors. Van Straten placed 6th in the Tie Down Roping with a 10.2 second run, earning an additional $568.80. He also teamed up with the 2025 CCA Finals Tie Down roping Champion Blake Zieffle for a strong showing in the Team Roping. Putting together a 5.2-second run to claim 2nd place and add another $2,988.00 to the payout ($1,494 per man).

Across two rodeos Van Straten added nearly $3,400 to his personal earnings while proving he can compete at a high level in multiple events.

From Unity to Kindersley, Van Straten didn’t just collect cheques he continued his steady climb up the leaderboard, positioning himself as a strong contender on the road to the 2026 Canadian Cowboys Association Finals Rodeo.

We look forward to following C**t through the remainder of the 2026 season as he continues his pursuit of championships and a place among the CCA’s elite.
